What are your top five songs and bands

@Nocreativity1 Yeah. There’s lots. Pretty in pink and joe Cocker from Officer in gentlemen too

@Sunny66 – shout out for the Replacements and Jason Isbell

Chicago and Earth Wind and Fire for the musicianship and instrumentation

Katy perry and Madonna have made some great and fun music too

So, we can do more than 5. Ha! Don’t get me started…I second Wings, especially Band on the Run. And Uncle Albert should have definitely made it to my favorite song list. Paul McCartney’s Ram is endearingly quirky.

I loved The Cure in the day…

Maybe I should have named the thread music and artists you love and why. Lol.

@privatebanker, love this thread idea! I hope you don’t mind if I post here more than once bc I have so many different genres of music that I like depending on my mood. Here’s a start, in no particular order:

Songs
Fearless or Wish You Were Here (Pink Floyd)
Man Smart, Woman Smarter or On the Road Again (Grateful Dead)
Old Man (Neil Young)
I Belong to You (Lenny Kravitz)
Heart & Soul (T’Pau)

Bands
Third Eye Blind
REM
Bare Naked Ladies
The Cranberries
Collective Soul

No Rules. Just music !

Cranberries and zombies. How did I forget. Best of the best.

Old man live from the bbc in London. Wow. What talent.

How could I forget Pink Floyd…

…and REM.

My current list of perfect songs includes
Clay Pigeons as sung by John Prine
Red Dirt Girl by Emmylou Harris
The Waiting by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

If anyone who loved the cranberries and Delores oreardon before her unfortunate death. There’s a tribute cover to zombie by bad wolves that she was going to do with them the day she died.

Google bad wolves and zombie. It’s simply a smash really awesome.

Hmmm tough… Steely Dan, Chicago, Spinners, David Bowie, Dave Matthews, almond brothers, Rolling Stones, The Who, Red hot chilli peppers, phish and maybe Modest Mouse or a few of the newer Jam Bands. There are so many since the late 60s…

My all time favorite song is Stay (wasting time) by Dave Matthews.

@Wellspring, saw John Prine at The Vogue in Indy. Great show in a smaller, intimate setting.

ABBA
The Clash
Hall & Oates
Cheap Trick
UB40
U2

Now back to Mother’s Day brunch…

Cowboy Junkies: Trinity Sessions
The Clash: London Calling album
Jonathan Richman

@HCPP20 Holy Toledo. That’s my list on plenty of days. Wow. Great reminders

@whidbeyite2002

Saw the clash live at 135 decibels. Rocked the casbah.

I think Beatles’ Eleanor Rigby and Bonnie Raitt’s I Can’t Make You Love Me are among the saddest, most poignant songs ever written.

And I’m bookmarking this thread for ideas when I need a new playlist. So many great artists and song. Thanks @privatebanker

@whidbeyite2002, I love Cowboy Junkies’ version of Sweet Jane which was originally written by Lou Reed of Velvet Underground.
