What can I do with my AMC12 score?

I’m from mainland China and I took the 2006 AMC12 as an international student. I think I’ve scored a 139.5 (by checking answer at AMC official website)
To be frank, this is the first year our school joined the test, so I knew little about what AMC is. Could you give me some information of it? For instance, will I receive any certification of my score(such as marking sheet)?; how can I use my score(I’ve heard that it is the entrance ticket to AIME, but can international student take AIME?) ?
THANKS for help!~

welcome Celestial Ivy, where r u from?

theres more tests to the AMC, but i dont really know what happens in china, however, in the US, they contact you to tell you ur score and tell u a little about the next step, but i recommend asking the people administrating the test

also, have you seen http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=19193&goto=lastpost</a> ?

Thanks a lot JinFX
I’m just curious about the test, since it’s way different from Chinese math contest…simple & relax
With reference to the Chinese Thread, it’s sweet to have 归属感 here ^^

btw, I’m from Beijing

hey celestial,
after you take the amc 12 and score over 100, you qualify for the next round (the AIME). which is like a 15 question test and no multiple choice, and way more fun.
Then they take your combined amc and aime score, and if you’ve done really well, you qualify for the usamo (?sp. it’s is insanely long and challenging) which is basically the preliminary for selecting the US math olympiad team. but i think you have to be a permenent resident at least for it. yea. check on the website. good luck

sorry the website i was referring to is
http://www.unl.edu/amc/e-exams/e6-amc12/amc12.html</a></p>

(and good one JinFX)

I thought only US residents were permitted to take AMC

well anyone can take it, but i guess they decided that non US can still turn in their scores… i didnt actually read that amc site
