<p>respond with a logical argument? like ones that include the word ‘premise’ (but they could come in other forms, for instance if someone uses A and B in their posts with arrows or equivalent verbal linking, then i’m calling it a logical argument).</p>

<p>i think i understand the instincts that result in such a response, but i’m not sure. </p>

<p>my first attempt to explain would be - it’s an impulse triggered by a stimulus. and specifically not ‘an attempt to convince the other person of the reasonableness of your or their position’.</p>

<p>but i’m very open to being wrong about that interpretation.</p>
