Not sure if this counts… I’m thrilled with my ‘bargain’ 16,000 mile, round trip tickets from USA to UK on Delta Comfort+ Normally. ‘cheap’ tickets would be 30k r/t if off season and as much as 70k r/t in peak season
The only trouble with My Pillow is the commercials and the sketchy founder.
Why all (or most) of the infomercial ads look so cheesy and sketchy? Maybe that’s part of the attraction?
I always wanted a set of Wamsutta’s 625 sheets, as I love their 350 count sheets. So when we bought our new bed last year we splurged. I mean, yeah they’re nice… just not sure they’re worth the price. Especially considering when we upgraded little S to a Full, BBB was out of the color he wanted. On a whim we stopped at Sam’s Club. He saw the color he wanted in the Member’s Mark 450 count sheets. They’re really nice!! I even went back and bought a set for myself. I paid $50 for a king set that I like almost as much as my $200 set!
@AnAsmom Aldi still carries Crofton branded items, just you never know what they’re going to have in stock on any given week.
And on the topic of this thread, Aldi is a great source of surprisingly great cheap things. My family knows better than to touch the “Aldi quarter” stashed in my car.
I love Maybelline’s Snapscara. At drug store prices, it’s significantly cheaper than higher end brands (which I used to use) and I prefer the Snapscara. Doesn’t smudge, flake, etc. - no raccoon eyes!
$6.99 for “6 Pack Telescoping Back Scratcher - Bear Claw Back Scratchers“. Best return on investment ever.
Two words- COSTCO wine.
The Trygg clear glass serving bowl from Ikea for $2.49. Nice design, durable. We use it for salads all the time for everyday use. Could possibly take a salad to a gathering or use it to take something to someone and not worry about needing to get the bowl back!

Oooo @sevmom I want that bowl!
This wasn’t cheap but since people were asking about pillows, I’ll mention that I just bought a Casper pillow at Target. It was $65, but at the time came with a $10 gift card which of course was used on my next trip to target. I’ve tried a number of pillows due to neck problems and so far I like this one a lot.
I am not a bargain shopper and am especially picky about my running/exercise gear. I read a review about a supposedly great sports bra from Amazon for $12.99 and I ordered one. I love it and ordered a couple more. I usually spend many times that amount. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016MM2390/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I have always purchased super expensive salon flat irons. The first time we traveled to London, I plugged my $200 flat iron into our converter and it zapped immediately And fried it. We walked to a local CVS equivalent and I bought a European prong Flat iron by Revlon for 40 bucks. No lie, that flat iron was just as good as my $200 salon brand from the states.
Through my single and married life I’ve had a bunch of fancy pots and pans-high end cookware that never really worked out for me and eventually needed replacing. For (I think) the last ten years I’ve been using a set of stainless steel Farberware pots and pans that I bought on Amazon for $89. They are in tremendous shape. If I polish them (rarely) they look as nice as All-Clad, which costs several hundred dollars for the same size set. I bought them because we were gifted my husband’s grandmother’s paella pan, which was mint-condition Farberware. I was intrigued and gave it a shot. Great purchase!
I have a few things from ARC and Goodwill thrift shops that I wear more than pricey things bought new elsewhere. Last month’s purchases included a $3 Columbia fleece jacket.
For furniture we have 2 “placeholder” items (to assess size/stye preference) bought at Habitat for Humanity thrift shop - wine cabinet for kitchen and large end table for family room. Both were deemed Keepers. We like the wine cabinet so well it may stay when we renovate the kitchen.
I only buy cheap or very heavily discounted things, so I don’t have anything else to compare them to. Ha!
I think this thread is referring to items that are priced at a cheap price…not ones that people buy discounted or at resale shops (but that are more costly of bought new).
Like my Big Lots love seat. The sale price was $220…but the retail was maybe $350. Still cheap for a loveseat. And it’s great.
I think I understand the idea here and think this fits:
I forgot my good pearls when I went to an out of town wedding. Because my outfit really needed something I went to the mall and the only jewelry was at this cheapo costume place. There were some “pearls” for 7.99 that I thought looked ok even though they’d likely break quickly and wouldnt stand up to close scrutiny. Well 8 years later they are still with me and I regularly get compliments on my “ beautiful pearls”( from afar they look better than up very close…but almost no one is ever that close) Lol. And they are so much lighter weight than my real pearls I wear them way more!
@JustaMom5465 My mom got my a couple of those same pillows years ago! Even though we’ve tried plenty of other, more expensive pillows, my family has complained that their pillows aren’t as good as those ones. Finally, last Christmas, I looked up the brand and got one for each of them. No one has complained since.!Not sure why I didn’t think of it in the first place., but they really are the best! After spending so much money on pillows over the years, I consider these a bargain.
I’m whole food plant based/vegan… I switched in November. I was really missing cream in my coffee. Often barista blends of plant milk are suggested, but they have oil and stabilizers added so not something I want on a daily basis.
I saw a frother at IKEA for 2.99. I figured it was a cheap toy that would not really work. But 2.99 isn’t a big investment.
It really does make regular plant milk into a thick, foamy treat for coffee. Easy to clean too! It would work for dairy milk too.
