I agree; no on the reptile print one. That kind of random addition cheapens the shoe, imo.
Shoes with ankle straps or wraps are pretty, but work best for those with long legs and particularly slim ankles. If that’s not a strong point, just do a nude peep-toe wedge in either fabric or patent and you’re done, and you won’t have to worry about a strap breaking up the line of the leg.
Ha! I just looked at the link in post 11. These are exactly the same shoes I wore for my S’s graduation. I recommend them, especially at that price.
I had a somewhat unique day dress that was white at the top and shaded down in ombré shading to purple at the bottom and I needed a shoe that could “disappear” on the leg since trying to match the purple wouldn’t work and you wanted the attention on the dress, not the shoe. I also needed a shoe that could stand up to climbing up stadium steps and walking around afterwards, so a strappy sandal was out.
I normally am not a fan of the cutout look, but these worked for me. They were / are perfectly comfortable. It’s a reasonable height wedge, felt secure even clambering up stadium steps, would work for walking on grass, etc. The bow is not as obtrusive as it appears in the picture.
It’s not an investment brand of shoe but I’ve been pleased. I also have nude patent peep toe heels (no wedge) but heels aren’t always so great for certain walking situations.
You will look smashing in either of those pair of shoes. If you already have one pair, I’d just stick with it, unless you have a burning desire to get something new. I prefer shoes I have tried and KNOW will be comfortable instead of risking painful feet at events, while wearing new shoes.
Those are gorgeous! I can’t bring myself to buy them at that price though…but that’s what I’m looking for! I will continue my search, may I’ll find something similar.
Amused at the middle link in Gourmetmom’s post #18. I have a flat super cheap Payless version of that sandal. I love it. I wish I’d bought another pair. I’m sure the heeled version looks better, but I don’t wear heels.
What a fun article to read, @Pizzagirl ! They mention Donna Karan, so I’m definitely checking those out now! The options for a blue skirt aren’t that great for spring…I think it would have to be nude. I think I know what I might buy for that dress. I have a $10 certificate at DSW, so they wouldn’t be too much, yet look more summery than my patent nude pumps.
Found some and bought them. Since I signed up for the first time they cost me $9.99 with shipping…$15! I read the reviews and they run large which is good since I’m a wide. Maybe I should have ordered 1/2 size down.
Thanks for all the help…no strap, no reptile embellishments, etc.
If you sign up with shoe dazzle you get 75% off your first pair. I normally only order shoes online If there is free shipping and returns, but I’ll do this for the first discount.
Oh damn…I didn’t know it but you only get the discount if you sign up for VIP membership which I did…not realizing what I was signing up for. It’s 39 per month and you have to make some kind of purchase. Note to self…don’t do these things at 6:30 am. I will wait for my shoes, then have to call and cancel it.
Ridiculous shoes. Why suffer wearing extra high heels- those don’t count as sandals in my book, they are horrible as well. It’s amazing what women will do in the name of “fashion”. Distort your feet and can’t walk well. You want people looking at your face, not your legs. Let your personality shine, not staggering about on too high heels. There’s a reason men do not wear heels- and I see no justification in torture/“getting used to” shoes like those.
I don’t wear heels often (maybe a few times a year), but I happened to wear them today for an event and they’re perfectly comfortable and easy to walk in. I never have had to “get used” to wearing them - put them on and go. In fact I logged over 5,000 steps in them per my Fitbit. They don’t distort my feet since I’m not stupid enough to cram my feet into anything too tight,
I happened to wear an above the knee dress at this event. My legs aren’t necessarily my best feature but I’m ok if people look at both my legs and my face. :-). Flats would have made this particular outfit look frumpy and old-lady.
It’s nice to want to look and feel attractive, wis75.
