I’m taking my first AP class, APUSH this school year. School for me starts in two weeks so I want to prepare as much as possible. I’ve heard that you have to name all presidents, their political party, and years they were in office as a quiz during the first day. Is this true? I already have my books. Should I go over the chapters and take notes right now? What should I do?

Enjoy your last weeks of summer and worry about it once you start. There’s no real use spending these last few days studying, you will have plenty of time once school starts. That’s just my thought though. It worked for me, I received both A’s and a 5. It’s all up to you.

LOL.

The first day we handed in our summer homework, which was to write five chapter summaries and two essays. We all ended up bombing the essays so badly that she didn’t count them.

I got a 4. I only remember the important presidents. And there are like 10 of them.

It depends on the school. On my first day we just did standard stuff (rules, supplies needed, syllabus, etc.), for all of my classes (AP and honors).

As with all my History teacher’s classes, we did Jeopardy :P

Last year, we went over the summer assignment and paperwork; nothing fancy

I’m in regular US history, because it conflicts with my other AP classes. But I did the summer work and prepared for the 44 presidents their parties, democratic, etc. because the APUSH teacher specifically told us there will be a test.

Good luck & have fun! I love history. But unfortunately can’t take the classssssss

Unless your teacher told you that there will be a test, don’t worry. And knowing every president and their party is not at all a requirement for the AP test. It probably isn’t even a requirement for the class. I didn’t learn every president (only the 10 or so most important) or which amendment was which number, and guess what? I got a 5. I promise, the AP test will not ask you what years Zachary Taylor was president. General trends are way more important than specific facts.

My teacher just talked to us and mentally prepared us for getting a 1 on the AP exam because we still tried our hardest and it’s okay and colleges really only care about the fact that you’re taking an AP anyway. Yep. On the first day of school.

Her pass rate is in the trash and she knows it, but instead of changing her teaching methods, she just wants us all to know that we’re perfect just the way we are and the AP test is just stupid.

The other APUSH teacher told his class that they would all either get a 5 or die trying.

Edit: Sorry, I only read the title. I can’t really help with anything in the OP because we didn’t have to do **** over summer.

Last year, we handed in our summer assignments, learned about his new syllabus, then had a pop essay on the book we had to read.

Our last test of the year was to name all the presidents, their years, and their parties. So, I don’t think you’ll have to do that on the first day of school xD.

Just make sure you do any summer homework and you’ll be fine!

I don’t know about the presidents, but my teacher rambled unenthusiastically and assigned us homework, which we’ve had every night since: reading 6-8 pages for a quiz the next day. I don’t find US history interesting to begin with but the fact that the instructor re-iterates, without passion, the exact same material we took notes on the evening prior just makes it worse…

xD it sounds like someone was messing with you. unless your teacher or school specifically said to prepare for those, I wouldn’t worry. on my 1st day we talked about why history is important.

Lol no, unless your teacher specified there would be a test, don’t worry.

In my APUSH class, we did have to name all the presidents in order for the midterm, but we didn’t have to know the exact years or anything. It’s really easy if you find a song. There are plenty of them on youtube.

Is APUSH this difficult? am self studying for it this fall because I just love it.
