What did you wear to high school?

How about those leotard body suits that were made to wear as a top with jeans or a skirt. They had snaps at the crotch.

Anyone else wear “Charlie” perfume? I loved it, but my mom always said it smelled like bug spray!

Oh my yes the Wendy Ward modeling. I forgot about the discount. I think I used the discount in the yardage section.

Embarrassed to admit it, but I actually liked Jean Nate…got the GIANT bottle every year for Christmas. Now I think it smells like old lady. Maybe my creeping age has something to do with my dislike. Denial, perhaps?

^^ my mom still likes it 8-|

Saintfan, I’m embarrassed to admit I did wear tube tops and even tube top cotton dresses. Instead of those body suits, I wore my ballet leotards. They were black with 3/4 length sleeves, and I sewed several maxi skirts to wear with them.

Lamom, yes - Wendy Ward! Did you attend the WW charm school, too? I went with several friends. After we finished with Wards, we worked for the former instructor at her boutique. Unfortunately, even with an employee discount I could not afford her prices.

Y’all, don’t hate on Jean Nate. I know it’s cheap but it reminds me of summers on the beach. I used Love’s Baby Soft in college.

I am still a huge fan of those bodies. Whenever Falke or Wolford are having a sale, I grab a couple. No one can guess that my perfectly tucked into jeans tees have snaps at the crotch. B-) There, I revealed my little secret.

^^they are great for us long waisted folks!^^

Wow! Who knew? (well I guess you did) I’m not sure how I feel about the “string body”. It’s a great idea if you can get past the feeling of your turtleneck getting caught in your butt crack! :open_mouth:

Hukapoo blouses worn over Danskin leotards with jeans or cords. I switched over to prep in College, with Deans Fair Isle sweaters, Oxford shirts, layered with Izods, boat shoes, Pendleton skirts, Bass shoes, a favorite pair of boots?

^ Sounds familiar. We were very preppy in college. I wore polos, topsiders, fair isle, etc. We all loved our Frye boots and painter pants.

FallGirl, my sister wore Charlie perfume…and now the jingle is coming back ( but that is another thread )
I wore Chanel Cristal and Chloe.
Some of these brand names are coming back to me. I remember reading 17 magazine , even when it was large sized

We all bought Jean Nate.

White Shoulders

Peter Max underthings (I can’t find any record of their existence on-line)

Lol, Saintfan, I avoid “string bodies”. There are regular " bodies" that do not feel like self-inflicted wedgies.

I don’t remember Peter Max underwear, but I had a Peter Max notebook, folders, a poster and probably other items as well for “back to school” one year. I went preppie in college as well, but again, no real brand names. I remember driving from the college about an hour to the big city nearby and going to a seriously large mall and being amazed at the clothing selections. A whole other world from where I grew up.

My dad’s drugstore carried Jean Nate, the Love line-I do remember the lemon scent, and some more expensive perfumes. I wore patchouli oil and sandalwood, but I loved my mom’s Tabu, Prince Matchabelli (?) but most of all her Shalimar. I have my own Shalimar now and have given some to both of my daughters.

Does anyone remember Units or Multiples? They came in every color and one particular piece could be a belt or a tube top.

I remember Units , but much later on. I wore them almost exclusively during my 1st pregnancy (1991) as I disliked most of the maternity clothes out there (probably another thread idea:) ).

Sseamom- I remember the Love Fresh Lemon scent. I still like anything that smells citrusy.

As soon as I read the reference to Charlie, I had an immediate recall of Shelly Hack in a print ad.

I have been bothered since the beginning of this tread because I cannot recall a single shirt style I wore in high school 73-76 (other than turtle neck). I guess the emphasis must have been on wearing men’s Levi jeans and our full head perms. When they grew out, we all had a flat ring around our head and then poodle type hair from the ears down. Lovely…
