Looking for ideas…not thinking along the lines of cars or pricey vacations…but cost is not important…look foward to seeing what is posted

I think after a certain age women want experiences more than material objects. Two things my husband has given me are an art class (at Penland School of Crafts in NC) and yoga classes. They are things I could pay for myself of course, but being given them as gifts allows me to indulge in myself guilt free. Another woman might enjoy spa treatments.

I have ipad envy (think there was a post about this earlier in the week). I would love for someone to buy me Jo Malone perfume but since I live 200 miles at least from the nearest place to buy this, it’s not going to happen.

Clothes are so hard and anymore I buy what I want. But if someone were to give me yoga classes and an outfit from lululemon, I would be thrilled. Personally I don’t want spa treatments, just not my thing and I would only go if I had someone to go with.

Honestly, I would love for a trip to visit one of my kids or a nice weekend with my H. He doesn’t like to travel so I know it is something that he would do for me. That’s the key I think. Something he doesn’t think is important but that he knows I would love.

I may get shot down for this by some of the other ladies…

Having been married for 20+ years many of my serving platters, table ware, utensils etc are very well used. I sent H links to some pretty replacements I would like from Macys. We are thankfully in the position if I need something I just buy it, but wouldn’t replace replace this type of stuff.

I also love Origins ginger line of lotions etc at this time of year. Love to receive enough of it to last to next xmas.

Always like to get the next book or 2 from my book club list.

Agree with danceglass that certificates to do fun things are great. Groupon/ half off depot are great to get ideas.

If money is not an issue, I think very few ladies will be unhappy with a Hermes silk scarf or a cashmere pashmina.

Dear H,This lady wants 48 hours straight of post holiday peace and quiet with good book, a steady stream of good wine, with feet up, by the fireside. Watch all the football or basketball you want (in the other room)…just periodically check in to make sure the fireplace is roaring and the fridge is still full of leftovers, and maybe an occasional piece of chocolate, and a left over Christmas cookie. Oh yah, and it would be nice if YOU took the folks to the airport. Because I will be a tiny bit drunk, by the fire, with my book.
But essentially, thats it.

ps…if money is no object a couple of bottles of 88 Sassicaia would suit me fine

What – no CC?

I like musicamusica’s request! I second it.

A good device to scan my many boxes of negatives.
A handyman once a month for fix-it chores.
Comfy sofa bed/futon for my studio (which doubles as S1’s room when he comes to visit).
Trip to Boston to see a Caps-Bruins game with S2.

Any one of them would be great. Since I don’t celebrate Christmas, I’ll wait the extra day and use this as my birthday list. :)

Large diamond stud earrings and/or a fantastic diamond ring - I hope this comment brings me some great spam!

If she loves to cook, but does not have a well-equipped kitchen, a Kitchenaid mixer (the $300 one with the arms holding the bowl), or a large-capacity cuisinart food processor.

If YOU can cook, but she usually does the cooking, shop, cook, serve, and clean-up a gourmet meal while she relaxes and drinks her cocktail musicamusica-style.

If she like the spa, mani-pedi or massage.

French champagne, swiss chocolates, served with fresh berries, lovely cheese, etc.

If all that fails, jewelry.

Not only do I want the scarf…I want to stand at the scarf counter on the rue Saint Honore and have the Hermes ladies whip out scarf after scarf until I find just the right one! :p

in reality…i would love for the men in my house to go out on their own and find a gift for me. Any gift…just please give it some thought and do it yourself without asking me for a list.

I’ll have what she’s having!! :D

I would love a few nice dinners at our favorite restaurants. Maybe it would be fun to go to Paris and have a look at scarves–will see how things proceed.

Your post gives me a great idea. DH and others are always asking me what I want, and I can never think of anything. But…when we got engaged, I registered for a very simple yet lovely set of crystal ware. I got some pieces, but we are short in every category, and only got one water/iced tea glass. I only remember this on Thanksgiving and Christmas, and I always think to myself, “Dang, why don’t I go ahead and fill out the rest of this set?”

Now I know what to ask for. :)

Jewelry, spa day, I agree with yoga classes, dining out, theatre tickets, weekend away, cash/gift card for things like dress/suit/boots/handbag, etc.

I like the idea of stuff she wouldn’t buy herself–massage, facial, . . . . I also like the idea of yoga classes but think about her schedule first. Some women might view that as something else you have to try to work into your already-too-busy week. I don’t think you can go wrong with something from Tiffany’s. Doesn’t have to be expensive, but there’s nothing like that little blue box.

To the poster above who wanted to fill out her crystal collection, check out Craigslist, many people sell brand new ,still wrapped in original packaging…DW got 4 sets of 4 Waterford Lismore stemware at a cost of 25 per piece…still had all labels on…i think this person got it for wedding, and wedding didn’t last…

^^^Thanks, qdogpa, would never have thought of that.

Health and DIAMONDS…saw several pieces yesterday, am deciding. The former is in my doctor and God’s hands.
