I always buy tires at Costco when they have coupons. I get to the tire center when they open at 8 am and usually can get out in a couple of hours. It’s great that they offer lifetime rotation and balance. I did have one bad experience where a tech overtorqued my tire lugnuts and warped my front brake rotors.
I went to Costco today and got a jumbo (not king) down pillow for 37.99. It’s not the same brand as on-line, but for the huge difference in price I figured I’d try it.
@dietz199, is that the itsebitses that you are missing? Me too. I bought something else last time and they were OK but not as good and only 3 in the package.
I don’t know the Vitamix model #s, but the one they are demo’ing is $500 and the one in the blender section is $375
I didn’t stop to determine the differences as I already have one, but am guessing the demo model came with more attachments.
Funny about the tires. My 14 year old Land Cruiser needs new tires ASAP and Costco would have had to order them, so I paid extra to the local, in-town small shop who can replace them tomorrow morning. (Easier to handle these things when the college driver is still around, even though it kills me to pay more.)
My son is loving the Kirkland merino blend trail socks (four for $13+/-). Wore no-show socks all through HS but the cold temps up north at college have him finally wearing a coat, gloves, and socks.
OK… I want to put every poster on this thread who ever mentioned brownie brittle on ignore. I’d never had any, and caved today. I’ve been grazing on it all day/night long - evil stuff!
I told you! That Brownie Brittle is like crack for chocolate lovers! Have you tried the other flavors? There is a toffee one that is fabulous too!
greenwitch, I once bought the underwear online when it was out of stock at Costco. Here’s the link:
Thanks!
I haven’t tried the brownie brittle but there are other, evil, treats lurking at Costco! I found something called dark chocolate pumpkin seed bark:
http://www.amazon.com/Bark-Thins-Snacking-Chocolate-Pumpkin/dp/B00FCJW8RM
and then they replaced it with dark chocolate almond bark (even worse!) and the worst thing of all is that it comes in those huge bags and someone has to eat it.
I saw it at Whole Foods once, in small, reasonably sized bags and it comes in many other flavors. Dark chocolate with candy cane bits and pretzel bark? Thank God they don’t sell that at Costco!
ETA: look at the reviews on Amazon, they are hilarious!
That pumpkin seed bark is EVIL. Also, dried, no sugar added figs and mangoes are in the same category.
I did something very bad at my pre-Christmas shopping at Costco. I bought the big tin of Walkers shortbread cookies. Last year I did the same thing and then dipped about half of them in chocolate and put them out with homemade cookies. My youngest son especially loved them and my older son, who was living at home, ate the plain ones until they were gone. Older son moved out this past fall. This year, I was invited to a cookie exchange so really didn’t have plate room for them. I stuck them away in the pantry and kind of forgot about them and now I have no kids at home and a husband that prefers chocolate themed cookies. And they taste really good.
Those are sinfully good.
DS#1 said he and fiancee went for the first time in eons to Costco. Spent $700!! DId they both really need new power toothbrushes along with whatever else they got?
Oooooo, great idea, @walkinghome, to make “semi-homemade” cookies. I might do that next Christmas.
Not a great idea to have them once the children have left!
Two things I have purchased recently which I won’t be able to buy again because I’m the one eating all of it: their new “Breakfast rounds” - which are essentially a cookie pretending to be healthy and “Ancient Grains” hot cereal that you heat up -it’s already prepared so a huge time saver, but it has things like dried fruit, coconut, added sugar. It tastes so good though!
Go for the hot dogs and pizza in the front of the store.
Refilling my ink jet printer cartridges.
@jym626, there is a phenomena we call “when men shop at Costco alone” and it’s brought me some strange things. First was a tiny refrigerator that you plug in in your car and it can also heat rather than cool. I said, “whaaaaaaaat?” but we ended up using it a lot on long car trips and it was more convenient than using a cooler and having to deal with ice or cold packs. Never used the heat function.
Next was a set of three rechargeable LED flashlights that sit in their little chargers vertically and the chargers plug into the wall (no cords). You need to leave them plugged in all the time - just in case. I don’t like the vampire factor but they have been useful a few times (until the charge runs out). The funny thing is they have a 3 prong plug and in our new house all the outlets are sideways or upside down except for two of them so we have to keep them plugged in in some odd places.
@greenwich Yes! It is the itsebitsies I’m missing! I liked the bikini cut. I saw those brand name ones 3 for $13 I think. Yuck. I’m going to try the new fandangled micro fiber ones. It just seems like the elastic is not going to keep them where they need to stay. On the other hand…they do reduce the panty line issue.
Used to get my contacts there, but in recent years I find some online companies are cheaper for exact same lens.
Love Perdue select size frozen chicken cutlets. They’re uniform thickness, about half inch, so they cook quickly and evenly with no prep work.
Also love Kirkland bath tissue. This is not an area where I compromise on quality. With Costco’s guarantee, figured I would give it a try. Bottom line (no pun intended), Kirkland is better than Charmin, at half the price.
Something our Costco has started stocking this past fall is Rotisserie chicken parts in packs of 8 parts. My husband and I both like rotisserie chicken, but strangely I guess, prefer dark meat. Now I’ll buy 8 full legs, freeze half and the four will be two meals with sides or a meal and meat for soup. I think the cost is just a little more than their bargain priced rotisserie chicken.
