What do you buy at Costco?

I love their pinwheels.

I do not want to read this whole thread. I have not read it because I am not a member of Costco and have never been in one. Is it similar to BJ’s? I do belong to BJ’s.

I’m both a BJ and Costco member. Costco stores are larger than BJ, but the layouts are similar.

Does BJ’s have a big focus on organic foods- Costco’s recent magazine showcases their organic selections
Here check it out

Also, their market share in hearing aids and eyeglasses is impressive.

I found this article interesting that compares Costco, BJ’s and Sam’s Club. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/best-warehouse-store-bj-costco-104106736.html

Nice article. The bottom line, they say, is that there isn’t all that much difference.

We do like BJ because they accept manufacturers’ coupons, is not as crowded, and they sell things in other than the super gynormous packages. My BJ also has a deli counter where prices are much lower than the supermarkets.

I like the deli counter at BJ’s too. It seems that BJ’s is also selling more organic items. What I like about Costco though, is knowing that the workers are being paid a fair wage. I think that makes for a happier employee. http://www.businessinsider.com/costco-pays-retail-employees-20-an-hour-2014-10

We switched from BJs to Costco when BJs no longer carried my contact lens solution and Costco carries the vitamins we use. Just those things saved us. The rest seemed similar but we do use Costco for meat and fish more than we did BJs.

We are thinking about buying our first internet TV (for a weekend place where we don’t have and don’t want cable) at Costco. Anyone had good luck with this?

Costco never saves me because I almost always spend way more than i planned to!!

LOL ^^ I send DH since he does not shop, he buys. Pretty much stays on list.

@3trees costco is a good bet for big ticket electronics & stuff. The choices are typically on the higher end and they’re return policy is usually good (but check for that specific item)
BJs is better for getting groceries in comparatively smaller quantities.

@3Trees – I do not know anything about internet TV, but Costco has a ‘no questions asked’ return policy, so I find them very easy to deal with when purchasing electronics. Having said that, my husband has commented that they do not always sell the most current version of an electronic item. A few years ago he wanted a TV with four HDMI inputs (or outputs?), but since that was cutting edge at the time, Costco did not offer. Same for DSLR cameras. I still buy those from camera shops, but their pricing on camera kits is excellent, but you may not like the lens combination.

Thanks so much scholar me and CT1417! I’m hoping to get to Costco today and will let everyone know what we end up with.

re: internet TV. Are you talking about a Smart TV, one that can stream from the internet without an outside box or stick like a Roku? I don’t know how much you would pay for a smart TV over a plain old LED/plasma TV, but you can just as easily buy a Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV or Fire Stick, etc. and just plug it into your TV and get the same thing.l

Our bought us a 40" “smart TV” for our Christmas gift. It was on coupon from Costco for a bit over $400. It is sharp, clear and much nicer than the smaller TV we have. I also love their no Qs asked return policy at Costco, as well as their free tech support and the extended warranty for up to another year with the Costco AmEx credit card.

We have no BJs in HI, so have no experience with that store at all. I’m just as happy not to deal with coupons anyway, as they tend not to really help me much with my shopping anyway.

We have purchased TVs from both Costco & Crutchfield, depending on the sale & the options, both are well priced and have excellent customer service

Fish, mostly steelhead trout, and smoked salmon from “Blue Hill Bay,” which is really ACME from Brooklyn.

have bought 2 tvs and 2 computers from Costco. No problems.
