What do you buy at Costco?

Good point about boxes that hook up to tv’s vs smart tvs. We have an old smart tv and actually use our blueray player for netflix - the interface is better.

I have Playstation 3 for Blu-ray and streaming Netflix and Amazon on the family room TV, and a Roku for the bedroom. Both are good for what they do.

Don’t know if all TV’s do this now, but I bought a TV /monitor from Costco that I love. I use it w my laptop for a larger screen and with one button, it changes to TV mode. Works great in my home office.

Since we have no Costco, I’ll comment about BJ’s. Besides groceries, have bought TVs, computers, books, linens, vitamins, various kitchen items and even the chest our TV In the family room sits on. It’s actually a nice piece of furniture.

Just bought a 14k chain for D1 for Christmas, since she has decided she now likes yellow gold. It was a good price compared to numerous other places. And yesterday I bought an iPad mini 3 for D1 ( her birthday is Monday) for $10 cheaper than Apple sells it for. And you never see Apple products discounted.

I bought tires for my car last fall. Great price.

I can’t remember who asked but I paid $499.99 for the Vitamix 6300 model. Plus the 6.35% tax in my state. We have used in all most constantly for smoothies in the past few weeks and it comes with a really nice big cookbook. This model has been around for a long time. The demo man told me the models that are currently sold in Williams-Sonoma are shorter but actually hold more. And they are all more expensive.

Bumping this up for any new/recent finds at Costco!
(also noticed another thread was risking falling to an “all about Costco” thread…)

Someone asked about the $4.99 rotisserie chicken on that thread. Let me tell you, I don’t know where they get these chickens but they are seriously at LEAST 1 1/2 times bigger than the big box rotisserie chickens - LARGE!

Bought something new yesterday in the refrigerated area near the meats - near the containers of hummus/salad/dips- Pad Thai noodles with some veggies in a spicy dressing - says it can be eaten cold or hot. Thought it would be good for lunches - maybe add some leftover rotisserie chicken to a serving! Haven’t tried it yet, tomorrow maybe.

Also picked up their microwavable packages of a blend of quinoa/brown rice with garlic - a quick side dish or would be good for a rice based salad with veggies and protein or even cook for a Chipotle like burrito with meat and toppings. Anyone tried this item? It was on sale this month - so I think it was 6 packages for under $6???

What section had the quinoa?

It was on an end cap - near the canned goods, condiments, pasta, etc. Not refrigerated area.

I didn’t read it fully, but I think it’s one of those packages that you just pop in the microwave for 90 seconds or something.

Chocolate covered pretzel chips.

I buy the quinoa / rice packets - i think they’re great & so easy, but my famly is less enthusiastic. My husband calls it “that funny rice” but he wil actually eat it. He’s not an enthusiastic healthy eater - I am kind of dragging him along for the ride.

DH just ordered a set of tires ( his car needs 2 different sizes). He got the $70 off sale

Besides having the best rotisserie chicken and pizza (most tirps result in picking up one of these for dinner as well)…we buy lots of fruit, milk, paper products etc. But the real deals I love to buy are the discount gift cards. I get $100 gift cards to our favorite restaurants for only $80! Another favorite deal is buying computers and other electronics. Their prices are good, the return policy is excellent and their technical support (“concierge service” as well as the extended warranty) make it a no brainer for me!

We’ve gotten those quinoa/rice packets for years. It’s the only microwaveable rice I’ve found that comes out with a decent texture. If you like them, the company makes several flavors that you might find in a different store.

They go really, really, well with the instant pouches of Madras Lentils that Costco also sells.

I saw a fancy bottle of scotch the other day that was priced just under $22,000! Didn’t buy it.

We go through lots of Asian Cashew salad. It doesn’t have many cashews in the toppings mix but it’s good. We usually add some small tomatoes and edamame (the frozen, non GMO, grown in the US) also from Costco.

Just ordered some new porch furniture from costco.com. I’ve never ordered something so large from Costco before, but it had very good reviews and looked good on the website. I hope it works out…would be a pain to get back to the warehouse for a return!

^^Our kiddos bought a large shed form Costco online, and I was worried about returning it if something was wrong with it. It turned out to be just fine.

My2sunz- all the porch and patio furniture at our local Costco looks well made and attractive. We are considering due to the drought adding a sitting area to an area of our yard that used to have grass. We are looking at a set at Costco that has a fire pit included. I wish I could order it online and get it delivered but it is sold out online. In the store it is three huge boxes! My only hesitation is dealing with picking up and moving the boxes.

@mom60 - While they don’t offer delivery from the warehouse, ours has some employees that have trucks and will deliver “on the side” for a reasonable cost. The warehouse is aware of this and seems fine with it…not sure if all would feel the same way. We bought two sets of reclining theater seats a few years back (also very large boxes!) and that’s how we got them home. Might be worth checking in to.

In my lunch today I have chicken salad with cranberries. It was in the salad section and came in 6 individual small containers (like yogurt) for $6 or somesuch. The kids and my dh like it and I find it ok if a little bland/plain texture. I add pecans, celery. Good for 4 weeks or something.
