What do you buy at Costco?

Why not? I’m just curious…

But while they may offer a Cap One visa, won’t they accept ANY visa for payment? I don’t see how they can require a certain affinity visa.

I use my Hilton Honors AmEx. So I’d assume that when they change, any Visa will do.

I just googled and they struck a deal with Citi for Visa. I can’t do a link on my phone but there were press releases dated March 3

Geez, two weeks before that they were saying Capital One. I guess we’ll find out next March for sure.

Greenwitch…Capitol One has a terrible rep around here. First, their window of payment is like 15 days, not a month. They raise your APR if you miss their very quick turn around. Also, I’ve gotten more spam mail from them than any other credit card vendor…which does not warm my heart.

Nope…won’t deal with them.

ETA…so I have a chase visa…which actually used to be a citi visa! Sheesh!

I think I have a USAA visa buried somewhere in the house. I’ll find it by next March!

thumper, I thought legally the grace period is 21 days?

I have been happy with my Costco AmEx. Between my H and I, we have 4 Visas already, so I don’t plan to get any more.

REI recently announced they are changing their CC affiliation also. My REI CC is one of my oldest, and I am not happy at the prospect of losing that one. I don’t buy as much at REI any more, they may just lose my affiliated CC account.

How will the transition work? Will there be a date when they just stop accepting Amex?

I recall Costco used Discover before switching to AMEX.

Just bought the quinoa brown rice thing

We had the rice/quinoa earlier in the week and 2 out of 3 of us snarfed it down! (#3 is too picky!)

Cheese, pineapple, eggs, Chobani yogurt, paper goods.

The REI visa, is my only major credit card. REI says that U.S. bank will be discontinuing the REI VISA and everyone will be automatically issued a MasterCard.
I use it for much more than REI purchases. I like that at the end of the year, it will automatically collate my spending, by category. Very handy for budgeting & taxes.

Since buying a Vitamix a month or so ago at Costco, I now buy several varieties of their frozen fruit for smoothies. Also pick up a container of baby spinach and with the smoothies we are making, we are going through one of those calm shells of baby spinach before it goes bad.

Picked up a package of their rotisserie chicken already deboned and used it in a casserole; it saved me time from cooking the chicken when I was in a hurry. And I don’t know how they do it, but their frozen broccoli florets taste just as good as fresh broccoli. It comes in a package with four, 1-lb. bags.

@teriwitt - agree 100% about the frozen broccoli. Not only is it as good as fresh, it is so much better than any other name brand of frozen broccoli at the supermarket. It is a staple here; I’m also glad that they started putting it in the four bags instead of one large bag.
Other things I always buy at Costco: paper napkins, trash bags, gatorade, bottled water (though trying to reduce this one), tomatoes, lettuce, spinach, pineapple, unsalted mixed nuts, english muffins, athletic socks, men’s dress socks and probably more that I just can’t think of right now.
Our Costco recently started carrying fresh baguettes in the bakery area; a package of two for about $4.99 (I think). They are delicious…probably the best baguettes I’ve ever eaten.

They are very good baguettes! I was there today but stopped myself from buying any… this time…

Oooohhhh! Costco Rotisserie Chicken! Anyone want a recipe???

Pour all the juice out of the rotisserie chicken carton into a pan (then pop the chicken into a warm oven in a casserole dish or wrapped in foil to keep it warm). Add a cup of milk (or more) to the pan of juice and a chicken bouillon cube (optional), salt, pepper, garlic salt or whatever you want to season it, then heat it up and thicken it with flour to make a white cream gravy. Serve it with mashed potatoes or rice, and the chicken. We also buy Costco’s caesar salad to go with it, but I’m going to try the frozen broccoli ya’ll are talking about. Super fast dinner on nights when we are stopping at Costco anyway on the way home.

I love the rotisserie chicken too but with just two of us in the house now a whole chicken is at least three meals, if not four. What I do is take off the whole legs for one dinner, and that may well be with mashed potatoes, gravy and veggies. With the rest of it, I’ll make soup, this chicken pecan salad http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes/chicken_salad_pecans_dried_cherries.html and chicken quesadillas. Strangely, neither of us prefers light meat but it doesn’t matter with the leftover recipes. I’ll use the bone and skin to make several cups of broth for the soup after the first meal.

Bought several bags of dried fruit with NO added sugar: apricots, figs, and physalis. We tore one of the physalis bags open on the way home and ate almost the entire thing. Ouch.
