<p>Cbreeze, We haven’t made the announcement yet as to the exact plans. But, future dil is sensitive to the issues. (Take ALL significant others? Really not going to happen…) And since we are paying for90% of the wedding and all the other celebrations…I think that may she might understand. (And no we are not Persian Jews where the tradition is for the man’s family to pay for the wedding.)</p>
<p>…oh, I wasn’t being snarky about Persian Jews. We live in an area the is very mixed…religiously, ethnic and race. We know everyone’s traditions.</p>
<p>CT, would LOVE suggestions!!! I have a fantastic diamond necklace. Won’t be looking there. But, I am thinking about a diamond earrings (no studs, got those)…or a diamond cuff. I have a number of cocktail rings (from the 60s)…but I may wear a diamond ring that my grandfather bought my grandmother (very art deco)…at least to the Rehearsal dinner. I like vintage jewelry. Unfortunately I didn’t inherit much…we have purchased most.</p>
<p>I started buying spices at Costco when I realized I was going through the much smaller McCormick spices at the supermarket rather quickly. At Costco, it’s a much larger container, but I buy it once and it lasts much longer. So cheaper in the long run. Also, I buy the larger container knowing that I’ll use it up quicker than it takes to go bad from just sitting on the shelf for years.</p>
<p>We have a spice store near us too that has different blends, but also in the larger container, not quite as large as Costco. If I only had a small amount to buy, as in Saffron, I would buy it somewhere like a spice store where it’s probably fresher and hopefully they would allow me to buy in a smaller quantity!</p>
<p>On occasion I’m known to splurge on chocolates! ;)</p>
<p>VeryHappy and ct1417, I make a ritual stop at the Penzey’s store on the Post Road every time I visit my mother in Wilton! Usually, I buy my spices in those big containers from a couple of restaurant supply stores in my area. I make my own curry and chili powders, and the like. But there are some Penzey’s blends to which I am totally addicted. At the moment, my favorites are Southwest Seasoning and Tsardust Memories. </p>
<p>We basically don’t splurge on anything, and haven’t for the last 15 years. I guess our comparative splurges have been travelling to Europe (although we stayed mostly in hostels and flew on a gift of frequent flyer miles), and veterinary bills.</p>
<p>After posting on the other thread that I just can’t get into cars, I will admit to really liking the Tesla’s looks, plus I am a fan of Elon Musk. I hope those of you “indulging” in a Tesla enjoy! A little bit of me will be living vicariously through you…</p>

<p>This is not exactly in the spirit of the question, however, if I were to splurge, it would be on bicycles. I own two now but would like to purchase at least 3 more (I would get rid of one). I would have a hard tail mountain bike, a country bike for most of my riding ( it would have to have fenders for wet weather riding) and a bike for group rides and sprint triathlons.</p>
<p>As a very special gift DH gave me 4 carat total weight diamond stud earrings. It was unexpected and very indulgent but they are stunning and I have worn them every day for the past ten years. They make me very happy. I receive many compliments on the earrings. This gift was definitely a splurge…and I am sure there is someone out there that would have a problem with them but they make me smile every day.</p>

Actually someone in the neighborhood has a yellow one.
It is sweet. & I dont care about cars usually, most of them all look the same.</p>
<p>lvvcsf, you may have hit on something… but mine is cross country skis. I counted today (it was a GREAT day to ski here!), and I have – ahem – eight pairs. And that is after I got rid of several pairs at a local ski group sale last fall. So I suppose some people might say I splurge on those (I, of course, consider them all to be completely necessary, so there is no splurging involved!).</p>
<p>Sunglasses. I like getting a few new pairs of Oakleys, Prada or Ray-Ban every now and then. Sure some people rock the Cartiers, but 95% of the populations goes with the gas station brand. </p>
<p>Also DVDs. Never been a fan of Netflix or anything like that. I like a hard copy.</p>
<p>I guess the biggest splurge is living in our modest house in paradise, but it’s a necessity because it’s the only place H will live. Can’t say its a huge sacrifice living here, but our costs of living are outrageous here!</p>
<p>I guess my splurge is having two pairs of Rx glasses. Used to also have 2 pairs of Rx sunglasses (but lost one :().</p>
