I stopped worrying about popularity a long time ago. 10 years from now, will it matter? In making friends, always choose quality over quantity. I love all my friends for being the awesome brilliant genuine individuals they are, and I can rest assured that they love me back for being me.

actually miranda, I did see Thirteen. It seemed a little too unrealistic for a movie called 13. Maybe it should have been called 15, or 16.

I think someone needs a wake-up call. Life is all about being outgoing and energetic. … the life of the party.

Look, this wasn’t supposed to be some big whinefest about how popularity doesn’t matter now that you’re older. I just wanted to see what people thought. Sometimes the people on here take stuff WAY too seriously.

I agree with insaneindamembrane, looking at the popular people in my school (looking far outside my social group, that is) most of them have a charm and ability to be pleasant which I think stems from their confidence in themselves.

The key to popularity is simply being fun and being somebody that other people enjoy being around. Outgoing, friendly, confident people are usually the most popular. Granted other, more materialistic things such as looks and money also attribute to popularity. But basically if you’re a fun person people will like you and you will be popular.

It’s…

Get off of this damn message board and stop trying to analyze what makes people popular, for starters. Try not to get stressed out about trivial crap.

ok, this is really getting out of hand. i am not doing this just to see how i can become popular, i just wanted to see what people thought. As I said before, people take stuff way too seriously. If you don’t agree with what is being posted on this board, then don’t post anything at all.

wow, I can’t believe this message board exists…

hmm… i see where you are coming from andovergirlsomeday and how you just wanted to see what people thought. although you don’t have to have a discussion about the subject, it’s not like nobody has NEVER thought about it before.

the whole popularity thing is sort of uncoventional at my high school. i dunno, maybe its 'cus its such a diverse school where most people have a variety of friends who have different interests. anyways, my opinion about popularity (take it for what it is worth because it is only an opinion) is that popularity is based not off of the actual “popular” person but the people who label him/her as popular. in order to be popular you have to be well known (that is the general definition). i’m not saying that popularity is not completely like what it is portrayed to be on tv (jocks, pretty people, etc.). i just think that people who criticize the “popular people” should take into consideration that it is the people around them who label those people as popular, therefore putting them on a so-called pedestal.
