What does the richest person you know do?

Obviously, you may not know their exact salary, but I think we all have an idea who. What’s their job? Do you know what college they attended?

I guess I can start off…

For me, it’s my friend’s dad. Some type of lawyer (I think corporate, I don’t really know much on law) attended Umich for Undergrad, and I’m not sure where for law school. Multi-million dollar home in a rich area, married with multiple children. Frequent vacations

My sister has a well-off friend whose dad is a software engineer. He took a couple years off from work to promote a game engine he was creating / working on, but I think recently he had to go back because he wasn’t getting the kind of financial backing he needed, or something. What I saw of it online was pretty cool. Maybe he’ll return to it at some point when he has time.

ETA: Facebook says he went to CMU.

Seems like software/computer science is the future. Too bad I hate coding lol @bodangles

Cattle rancher! I don’t know if they went to college; if they did, it would have been their large midwestern state university, most likely.

He is a billionaire and is in the Forbes top list of richest people alive. He owns a private equity firm and an NBA team.

Founder of a medical device company. Attended Duke. Multi-billionaire.

A kid that goes to my school, his dad received an inheritance of about a billion dollars and his dad just invests. Sometimes you can see his investments in the news.

State worker. Peak salary > $300k in a business/finance area (You do not need to go to an Ivy League!). Attended Sacramento State, my rather low tier college.

@couplemoreweeks, Mark Cuban?

@stugace No but good guess. Try eastern conference.

Know personally? My district superintendent, makes $250k/year and went to the state U.

My uncle (not related to me) is a direct descendant of a Chinese emperor or something so he inherited a bunch of valuable ancient artifacts. I have no idea where he went to college.

Richest person I know is a family friend, but they aren’t millionaire status.

A few I know, only as aquaintances:

Billionaire (googled him and saw his net worth is 2.2 billion): owned a bunch of car dealerships. Don’t know if he ever went to college, though he seems to support UT Austin.

Another billionaire: owned various sports teams, owner/partner of an investment firm. Went to UT Austin for undergrad, USC for grad school.

Founding partner of big law firm: Worth many many millions. Undergrad Trinity University in Texas, UT law school.

Personal friend: commercial real estate, worth hundreds of millions. Undergrad: Texas Tech, MBA: Penn State

A cousin of mine almost made it to the MLB for pitching. After breaking his wrist two days before a tryout and missing his shot, he started a baseball organization of his own. He now has 2 locations w/ full-sized baseball fields indoor and a large number of employees working under him; all to teach baseball. Lives in a huge house and is probably making close to a million bucks a year, after taxes :P. He only has an associates degree as far as I know…

Some of my dad’s acquaintances own gas stations. They’re millionaires.

One of my friends, whose family I get the idea are on the wealthy side but not filthy rich, has a cop for a dad, but I think most of their money comes from his mom - she’s a top-level HR/executive person. He applies for flight scholarships and stuff, though he’s said it doesn’t matter if he gets them or not - they can still pay for what he wants.

Married well. Sold a chunk of wife’s assets for huge sum. Now invests.

Actually the richest guy I know is my dads friend, he runs his own biomedical engineering company and does consulting for other companies, makes between 700k to 1 mil a year. He went to my university with dad for med school and reads a book like every week. Says he learned more about making money that way than in school
I was impressed and that got me into reading more
