What fun things did you do this week?

Just a light-hearted thread of fun and frivolity. Shows, concerts, hiking, sightseeing, baking, shopping…what was your seratonin boosting activity for the week?

Monday DD and I went to one of the movie and live Orchestra nights to see “Across the Spiderverse” complete with a small Orchestra and scratch DJ. If you’ve never been to one, it was very upbeat; the live music offered so much more to the scenes, and they encouraged a lot of audience interaction. I have to admit it was pretty fun.

Wednesday DH and I went to see Air Supply, courtesy of DD. Russell Hitchcock can still hit those notes. How can I remember every single word to those songs? So many memories flooded in; the last time I saw them was 43 years ago :flushed::joy:

We had a couple (new friends we’ve met here in Maine) over for dinner last night. Dinner turned into hours of interesting conversation, just one more way we’re becoming part of the small community here. Cooking/entertaining is one of our favorite things to do, so this was the highlight of my week.

DH is having a blast building out his shop in his new garage. I love that he is so engaged – and has a separate place to play.

This past week was a social catch up week for me - two hikes/walks with different friends, lunch with a third friend and an opera today. Also spent a good amount of time outside which is always nice, and did some fun shopping for gear for an international trip.

I went to a book signing yesterday, the author’s wife is one of my new friends from my dance class and book club here. I will be going to a Mamma Mia theme drag brunch today with my daughter and a friend (I love all things ABBA).

On Tuesday, my husband and I went to an over the top holiday decorated restaurant for dinner. Food was great (enough to have dinner the next day) and place was so coolly decorated (thousands of ornaments hanging from the ceiling, etc.)

We are calling that our anniversary celebration dinner, tomorrow we are married 40 years!

See my new Pickleball thread  I started it because I like talking about that new hobby lots more than I like talking about Politics. (And I’m sure the other players cover the spectrum of political views… who cares? we still have a lot in common.).

Sunday we took nephew and son and DIL out for dim sum in NYC. The next night we had dinner at Winter Garden in Bryant Park—never tried duck crepe before!
Monday we caught ferries to Statue of Liberty pedestal and Ellis Island. Both were fascinating and impressive.
On Wednesday, went to NYC Plaza Hotel for a gala celebration of our Foundation’s 20th anniversary. The holiday decorations were up and we had choral singers and a live band and amazing food and speakers.
The next day we had a board meeting and took the CEO and a fellow board member out to dinner with my S, DIL and nephew.
Yesterday, my BIL drove us to Half Moon Bay where we had a fabulous linner—oysters, clams, artichoke soup, artichoke cakes, seafood paella and apple pie ala mode while watching the majesty of the Pacific Ocean.

“Fun” is relative for my post but on Monday night I went and saw “Dear Evan Hansen” with my daughter in law. “Fun” because ticketed events are sort of rare these days for me and “fun” because DIL is delightful - but of course while very good wouldn’t put the play content in the “fun” category! I will say though it made me think, “wow, is this what other people do? Go out on a Monday night?!”

Shared in the joy and delight of my S proposing to his GF yesterday. He surprised her by hostiing a dinner with our family and hers (coming in from SoCal). Then further surprised her with a party and 40 of their friends.

DD and I are big musical fans; DEH is definitely an emotional one, but sometimes you just need a good cry. Plus the songs are amazing; “Anybody Have a Map” is like an anthem for struggling moms. I bawled the first time DD and I heard it live. We don’t really do vacations or eat out, but we’ve been getting tickets to different types of shows for all birthdays and holidays. We try to make the budget stretch by sitting in the upper balcony and going on lower demand days and times. DH and I know we’re on borrowed time before DD (5th year senior) moves away, so we’re all 3 trying to soak in all the experiences we can before the summer :sob:

I’ve been busy making stuff for a holiday boutique. I posted a few examples on facebook and I’ve already sold half of what I was planning to bring in, so I need to make more! Ack! Luckily it’s mostly relaxing work.
