What fun things did you do this week?

I just finished raking leaves off the grass. Sure I could use our blower although I don’t know how.

Not sure if raking is fun but it is the most therapeutic thing I do - when in concert with Tom Petty, Van Halen and more on my Spotify.

Watched 2 Italian films at our International Film Festival theater, really fun to get out of the house on dark rainy fall evenings. Also a couple really long walks, one with a friend, one with my spouse. Dinner at a great inexpensive Vietnamese restaurant. Yoga, pilates, read my book club book which I need to finish before the library hold ends on Tuesday.

It’s been a tough week for me, but I LOVE the happy spirit of this thread!

DH and I went to the dress rehersal of our high school’s production of Elf, the musical. DH belongs to a group of [basically old] men, and the HS decided years ago that the dress rehersal would be a better experience for the kids if there were real people in the audience. We get to go for free, so it’s a win-win. Also, the HS’s productions are broadway-caliber. I don’t know where they get these kids from, but many of them have gone on to professional careers.

And yesterday I went to a monthly lunch that a group I belong to of [mostly old] people have. We meet once a month at different restaurants, trying different cuisines, and everyone pays their own check. It’s of course more about the people than the food, and I’ve enjoyed myself at two of these now.

We had a more fun weekend last weekend. Both Ss, younger S GF and her sister came down and we went to the Virginia Tech/Clemson game. It was so wonderful having them here, but we missed older S GF.

So this week, we dropped off 3 of them at the airport.

We did get our den painted! I was never crazy about the beige color, so that’s gone. Our sad carpet will be replaced in a month and our new couch will be moved in. It’s currently set up in our foyer lol.

We also drove to the big city to go to Costco yesterday. Bought some Xmas presents. In our household that qualifies as fun

We spent the weekend cutting down perenials and trimming shrubs with a very similar playlist; I don’t think our neighbors are fond of our outdoor speaker or playlist😂

I’ve been getting videos in my feed of a Texas HS’s production of Phantom of The Opera; I’m amazed at the level of talent at all these high schools.

My niece and her BF both go to another VA school but went to that game; my SIL went to VT, so our nieces and nephew grew up fans. Niece had fun trash talking to DH via text during the game.

DH and I have a subscription series to a regional theater near us. Wednesday night we attended the Frozen musical performance. It was very well done and even though we’re empty nesters (older, no kids with us), we really enjoyed seeing it.

Let It Go” is still going through my head! Love the lyrics!! Loved seeing the little girls who dressed up and sang along.

For the Chicago area people:

And there’s a short video clip with photos at the bottom.

H and I are alums. We met and got married there. Neither of our kids went. They went elsewhere within VA - one public, one private. But younger S had been a Clemson fan since he was little. So one of us went home happy!

My sister (also an alum along with her H) went as well to support her kid who attends. It was a nice day, except for the score lol

I went to a quilting workshop today. The teacher is a podcaster that I listen to so that was fun to meet her and sew all day!

After 9 days of 5 and 6 mile rides, today I did 10 miles - never have I ever wished for more fat on my butt! But I did it! My goal is to get to 25 - I just ordered seat cushions, hoping one will help. JustaDaughter says she can help me craft something over Thanksgiving if they don’t work out.

I don’t ride in sandals - this was just a glory pic…

Is it bad that I can’t think of anything I did this week that was fun?

I’ve enjoyed reading all the posts though.

ETA: and….i love how varied the activities are and encourages me to think of what I could maybe try to do sometime.

You all are a great group of people!

I got to be in a show this past week. I sing in a women’s chorus with 123 voices. Tech rehearsal Wednesday night, dress rehearsal Thursday night, performances Friday and Saturday nights. Both sold out in an historic theater. We sang funny songs, scary songs (the concert had a villain theme,) and beautiful songs. We did choralography. We sang in English, German and Italian. All memorized. It was hard work, exhausting and so much fun. PS the audience loved it. Today I slept till noon and did absolutely nothing.

Yes, so I was not the only old person.

You may want to add Shokz headphones to your Christmas list. You can then safely listen to podcasts or a book while riding and the time and miles will fly by!

I have (and use my apple headphones (wired, not buds), which still allow me to hear things around me, but now I’m off to look Shokz up! I did find myself singing out loud yesterday while riding.

Was working remote last week while H was in a conference. So, I did get out. Had dinner all by myself one night at an tiny italian place - delicious. Caught sunset a couple of nights after a short hike, caught sunrise a couple of mornings (great when you are in the mountain time zone, but your body is still in EST).
