Class rankings for the top 5% Senior class at my school came out recently (the ones with close to 4.0s). GPA is unweighted. I noticed that many of students in the top 5% received 26 or lower on the ACT. I know some that only got 21s or 23s on the ACT. Sadly I only maintained a 3.6 with Honors and APs.

Besides my schools HEAVY GRADE INFLATION. We’re a public school and non IB. What habits separate a student with a 4.0 from one with a 3.5? What type of study skills or techniques should I learn?

Either A, they study constantly, workaholics, do nothing but study. They work hard, and do the work. Or they are just naturally gifted, and can do things with ease.

21 on the ACT and 4.0? wow… talk about grade inflation.

21 on the act and a 4.0 can mean many things other than grade inflation. 1: he took easy classes. 2: he cheated alot 3: he’s not that bright but works very hard

At my school we have grade inflation too, so the only real thing that separates a 3.5 and a 4.0 is participation in sports/ROTC. That isn’t to say people who do sports can’t achieve a 4.0, but it’s not as common.
