What History Class should I take Sophmore Year?

I’ll be a sophmore in high school next year, and I can take Honors Civics and Economics but I can also choose to take regular Civics and economics as separate classes online over the summer. If I did this I could take an AP History class next year (my teacher agrees I am ready for it) but my counselor said I would miss out on the honors point from taking Honors Civics and Economic which would drop my weighted GPA and possibly my class rank ( I am currently at 5). Without history my schedule will be:
AP Lit and AP Lang.
AP Computer Science
French 2
Honors Algebra 2
Honors Chemistry.

I want to major in the engineering field and will probably go to an out of state college (MIT is my goal). What should I do?

I cannot tell you what to do. I can point out that when my daughter took AP European History it resulted in the hardest earned A- that I have ever seen in my life.

If you wan to go into engineering, then how many hours do you want to spend studying AP history?

By the way, for engineering MIT is very strong, but it is a long shot for everyone and there are a LOT of other very good engineering schools.
