Another thread created after getting the idea from a podcast.
What is a popular food item - either restaurant based or grocery store based or homemade that seems to be American iconic -but which you have never eaten?
I’ll start - the McRib Sandwich. People love it. It only comes around seasonally (I think). I’ve never had it - not dying to!!!
Ok this thread is making me hungry, give me all of your sushi, octopus, oysters and caviar! I’very never had food from Taco Bell, Chick-fil-A, Cracker Barrel, Waffle House, very recently tried Popeyes… I would try them if served, I will try pretty much any food.
Remember the prompt was “popular food” - otherwise we will be having people say they’ve never tried chocolate crickets. I’m not sure pigeon fits in popular food!
Like have you never had a Big Mac? A Wendy’s Frosty? Doritos? An avocado? These are well known and popular but may have never touched your lips.
Once I was in Stop-and-Shop and asked a worker if he could please help me find the olives. On the way, he said, “I’ve never actually eaten an olive.” I was so surprised (olives are like one of my major food groups).
I’ve never had any food from Arby’s or Popeye’s, and have only had KFC, McD, BK, Pizza Hut in Israel (kosher).
I can’t think of any food that is kosher that is “popular” that I haven’t tried, because I love new foods (though was so picky as a child!).
+1 for Indian food. H will never touch it, and I’m always with him, so it’s likely this will never happen. We also don’t have any Indian restaurants in our town.
I’ve never had the McRib even when we ate there a ton growing up!
Raw oysters - nope. Fried on a big seafood buffet? Sure.
For awhile my online running group peeps were infatuated with kimchi. Nope
COFFEE! Can’t stand the smell. No way will I drink it. That also goes for any kind of latte, or whatever other fancy things they do to coffee.
I’ve never eaten steak. As a kid, the bloody styrofoam and plastic repulsed me.
For those not eating Indian food - wow! One of my favorites for take out.
Anything from Chick fil A. Tried to go there once like 15 years ago and it was a Sunday. Then learned about their stance on LGBTQ and will never go there again.
