<p>I agree with starbright. I am confident that I do my job well. I’m confident in my knowledge. If I were to walk around boasting to everyone at work about how well I do my job and how well others do not in comparison, that would be arrogant.</p>

<p>IMO, you can tell an arrogant person by how he treats others. </p>
<p>Among the most successful people I know, some of them treat secretaries (if that job description still exists), waiters, garbage collection people etc. as their equals. Because they actually believe they are their equals in meriting respect (even if not their equal in income, IQ…)</p>
<p>Some of the least accomplished people I know look for opportunities to demean those they consider lesser.</p>
<p>The former are not arrogant. The latter… indeed they are.</p>
