What Is the Most Expensive Place You Have Ever Visited?

We were in Bermuda last week. Whew! Gas was about $9 a gallon according to the taxi drivers. Food/drink at restaurants was about twice DC or NYC prices.

Has anyone else been anywhere that has such sky high prices?

^^^ Just being a smart *** I could also say that George Washington U is the most expensive place we visited…

London…

the alter…

…yeah swdad1, and as they say, it’s cheaper to keep her…

DH went on a business “world tour” that included a couple of days in Moscow, Russia. I almost died when I saw the cc bill. $300/night in what was basically a Motel 6 room. Internet access: $10/hr. His typical meal in the cheapest hole-in-the-wall eatery: $30-50 (no booze, nothing fancy, just a soup and salad kind of meal). Thank goodness he did not drive there (that would have been really expensive and suicidal), but the cab fares were astronomical.

I had a cup of iced tea that cost $5.49 in Seattle yesterday. Just ordinary iced tea. If I’d thought to ask before I ordered it, I wouldn’t have.

In a more general sense, I guess I’d say London.

St Moritz and London

Been to Bermuda 5 times. Love it. But expensive. What did you think of Bermuda?

eddie,

Liked it a lot. Must be the British thing as everyone is nice and civil. Didn’t see a lot of poverty like some of the islands in the Carribean. Would consider a cruise for any future Bermuda vacation as there are cuises that originate from northeast ports.

Service Department at the Audi dealer.

Australia.

DS was shocked by the prices in Geneva Switzerland.
Every trip I have taken to Europe was expensive.

Hawaii and of course nearly all private Us. We were pleasantly surprised that groceries in London were less than we pay here–good for vacation budget but goes to show things are quite relative. Our real estate prices are pretty astronomical.

oh New Hope…don’t say that…which one do you have?

Switzerland is pretty expensive - a night and day difference in costs between that country and the ones bordering it.

Tokyo’s pretty expensive also.

For travel, Monaco is the most expensive place I have ever visited. A double room with a sea view at the Hotel de Paris runs $1500 a night. The French Riviera, especially Cap Ferrat and Cap d’Antibes, is shockingly expensive - triple what I have seen in major European cities for equivalent hotel rooms and meals.

Mayo clinic. I just had a spine MRI and they charged me for THREE separate procedures - upper spine, middle and lower - at a price tag of $3000- $5000 each! At least they should have let me have the fun of exiting and entering the MRI coffin 3 times!

If you meant this as a travel question - then I would say my bar bill at the Ice Bar in Stockholm.

London…

The maternity ward. I visited 19 years ago and am STILL paying.
