What is the most popular/easiest/hardest AP in your school?

<p>As my title says, I’m wondering what AP’s are considered to be “jokes”, “grade killers”, and popular. I want to know what is universally considered by CC community to be the hardest AP.</p>

<p>I have gotten this idea from the thread about 'what is considered to be an above average amount of AP’s at your school?"</p>

<p>Thank you for taking yoir time to answer the thread!<br>
Rank for popularity:
Very Popular: almost everyone and their grandpa, niece, and dog take this AP. Why? Because the AP is super easy/ the prerequistes are nothing/ not hard.</p>

<p>Popular: A huge chunk of people take this AP. But it isn’t “very” popular because some people fear this AP because of the rigor. </p>

<p>Somewhat Popular: A class that is taken by a fair amount of people. But instead of filling like 3 or 4 classes this AP will have 1 or 2 full classes
Unpopular: People don’t take this course because of the work or because they don’t qualify. Also the class is fairly small.</p>

<p>Really Unpopular: So unpopular that people don’t even know that this class is offered.</p>

<p>Rank for easiness/difficulty
Cry Worthy Hard: The class probably has an insanely difficult curriculum. A person would stay up long, painful nights doing homework. The person would study days in advance and still get a B+ or low A. (And be content with that!) </p>

<p>Challenging: The class is hard but not impossible. You will be working for a B+ or A. But it wouldn’t kill you.</p>

<p>Easy: This class is probably just as hard if not easier than an honors course. But it keeps you busy sometimes. </p>

<p>lol this is an AP?: This has as much difficulty as like an on-level class. So you can gossip in class, go to the bathroom for 1/2 the period, and/or sleep in class and still recieve your A or A+.</p>

<p>n/a - not applicable</p>

<p>You can respond in any way you want. This is the way I am responding:
Art History n/a
Biology (Very Popular and Chalenging: in my school it is a class where you have to really work to get a B+)<br>
Calculus AB (Somewhat Popular and Chalenging: In my school, many people get B+'s and A’s. The homework is brutal and the teacher teaches too much (he teaches l’Hospital’s Rule and Parametric Equations even though they are BC topics)
Calculus BC (Unpopular and Cry Worthy Hard: Only the people in honors precalc take this class (which is like 7 people) and people depriotize other subjects just to do well in this class)
Chemistry(Unpopular and Cry Worthy Hard: Many drop out of this class, and even the people considered to be “genises” in my school struggle to get a B+. The teacher has a “doesn’t give a ****” attutude.
Chinese Language and Culture n/a
Computer Science A: (Really Unpopular and Easy): People don’t even know that this class is offered. But this class is an easy A but there is a lot of 1’s on this exam. (I got a 5)
Macroeconomics: n/a
Microeconomics: n/a
English Language: (Unpopular and Challenging) Only language buffs take this class. But they don’t do too well. (A lot of 3’s)
English Literature: see english language
Environmental Science: n/a
European History: (Popular and lol this is an AP?) Almost everyone takes this class and gets A’s.
French Language and Culture: (Unpopular and challenging) Not a lot of people take french at my school, but people do complain about it.
German Language and Culture: n/a
Comp Government & Politics: n/a
U.S. Government & Politics: n/a
Human Geography: n/a
Italian Language and Culture: Unpopular and challening (see french)
Japanese Language and Culture: n/a
Latin: Vergil: n/a
Music Theory: (Really Unpopular and Cry Worthy Hard) I just found out that this class was offered. But my friend who took this class said that he had more homework in this class than he did in BC Calc.
Physics B: n/a
Physics C: (Unpopular and Cry Worthy Hard)
Psychology: n/a
Spanish Language (Somewhat popular and Cry Worthy Hard) People who have always recieved an A+ in spanish get C’s in this class.
Spanish Literature: n/a
Statistics (popular and lol this is an AP?) I think it is like a universally accepted fact that stat is a joke. The pre-requiste is a C+ in alegbra 2/trig. So a person who stinks at math can get in. Also this class is an easy A+.
Studio Art: (popular and lol this is an AP?) People take this AP just because they are either: 1) love art so easy A+ or 2) need an AP to put on transcript but doesn’t love art bt easy A
U.S. History (Popular and challenging) People think this class is a joke when they walk in. But the homework is brutal, a lot of outlining. Also there are many debates and dbq’s.</p>

<p>World History (Somewhat popular and Cry Worthy Hard) This is the first AP offered in my school. (Sophmore year) There are many drop outs. Also, people work their but off for a B.</p>

<p>Hardest: English Lang. Very few people get As. Most people get Bs/Cs and 90% of the class got 5s this year.
Easiest: Art History. Everyone gets As.
Most popular: APUSH. Pretty much everyone takes it.
Least popular: Music Theory.</p>

<p>Hardest:
Chem: The teacher was a 70 year old argintinian lady with a PhD who spent most of her career either in industry or teaching hundreds of undergrads. Because of that, she had a challenge guiding her 10 student AP class to passing the test. Two of us passed, myself excluded, yet 7 of us got the A. That aside, did anyone else take Chem this year and think the test was rather… brutal?</p>

<p>Easiest:
AP Euro: Though it was a popular class, it was scheduled against AP photo, a graduation requirement. There were 8 of us seriously taking the class, and two seniors there for a “gentleman C”. It was nearly impossible to talk about history for two hours (we have block sched.) and around the end of the first hour, we found ourselves losing interest and ultimately sidetracked for a “break period”. Five of us got the A, and four of us passed the ap with a four or higher.</p>

<p>Least popular:
AP Eng. Lang: Teacher is a ******</p>

<p>Most Popular: APUSH: Err’ybody takes it</p>

<p>Most popular I guess would be APUSH. There’s always like 4 to 6 classes, but they are usually small, like 20 or less. </p>

<p>Psych is really popular among the smarter kids in the grade at my school. Its limited to two 20 student classes. A lot of kids get rejected. A loot.</p>

<p>Physics B is the grade killer. Usually a really small class of like 15, pretty much all the top of the class. Or kids who decided they dont mind the challenge.</p>

<p>Tiny rural high school (550 students), with a whopping 6 AP’s offered. </p>

<p>Hardest:
AP Chem because the teacher is amazingly good at teaching his students & extremely dedicated, but the class is rigorous to the point where everyone has gotten a 5 for the past 10 years. I have him this year again after normal chem & I’m super excited!
AP physics because the teacher is new so he isn’t entirely familiar with teaching. </p>

<p>Easiest:
AP world because out of 33 students, 32 received A’s. 13 people took the exam with the lowest earning a 2 and me & another student earning 5’s. Isn’t exactly rigorous…or even hard. </p>

<p>Most popular:
AP world because the teacher is a joke
APUS because the teacher is as dedicated to teaching as Chem. </p>

<p>Least popular:
AP Chem because most people aren’t willing to put in the work. To put it into perspective, out of 550 students in the school, only 2 took AP Chem last year. I think there’s 7 this year so it should be a fun experience!</p>

<p>I am not counting AP music, foreign languages or arts because they are all hard and unpopular.</p>

<p>Hardest: AP Chem or AP Calc. The AP Chem teacher is one of the best teachers in the school. AP World is close also because the teacher is great.</p>

<p>Easiest: AP Psych. It’s a joke. Second is probably APES and third is probably APUSH, if you get the easy teacher (he’s an AP grader every year, though, so he prepares you well).</p>

<p>Most popular: It’s between APES, APUSH, AP Lit, AP Physics and AP Bio. I don’t know which one, but if I had to guess I’d say AP Lit.</p>

<p>Least popular: Some years AP Chem, some years AP Calc.</p>

<p>Im not completely sure on some</p>

<p>Hardest: AP World by far like 5hrs of Hw but teachers prepare so well that dumbest who took the class can still get a 3(Highest rates of 5 in school). Then AP Physics C only bc the lone teacher doesnt understand the material. AP lit+lang. Ap chem. Ap calcs</p>

<p>Easiest: Ap Pysch a major joke. Great way to get other HW done. Then Ap government b/c the teachers are great/apcp. Then Ap art if ur an art fan. Ap stat Ap Computer</p>

<p>Most popular: APUSH, AP G & P, AP Physics b, AP Calc AB, AP BIo</p>

<p>Least popular: AP Physics C, Ap chem, Ap music</p>

<p>Hardest: AP Chem, in my opinion, although I know some people would argue for AP Bio due to the higher workload. (Chem is harder to get an A in, but Bio just sucks up a ton of time.)</p>

<p>Easiest: AP Enviro or Music Theory. Evidently CompSci isn’t bad either, but the teacher gets pretty bad results from kids who don’t have a CompSci background, so he probably just sucks at teaching. </p>

<p>Most popular: APUSH, hands down.</p>

<p>Least popular: French or Latin.</p>

<p>Most popular: Human Geography. All the rising freshman think they’re gonna kick ass by taking an AP class and then bomb the exam. About half of them give up on AP classes thereafter.</p>

<p>Least popular: Physics C. You need Calculus as a prerequisite, so the pool shrinks considerably from that. The difficulty scares people away too. I have it next semester!</p>

<p>Easiest: English Lang. The class and the exam are a joke. If you write decently and know ethos, pathos, and logos… lol, you’re pretty much set.</p>

<p>Hardest: Probably Physics C. Maybe not from workload, but content-wise.</p>

<p>Hardest: AP Chem</p>

<p>Easiest: AP Environmental? Easiest topic + easiest teacher.</p>

<p>Most Popular: AP English Language. Almost everyone takes Honors Lit/Comp I and II, and since there is no III and rather the AP, almost everyone from Honors Lit II goes ahead and takes AP Lang, and many of them consequently fail.</p>

<p>Least Popular: Physics C, probably.</p>

<p>Hardest: AP Calc BC
Easiest: AP Calc AB</p>

<p>Yup, those are the only 2 AP’s we have :P</p>

<p>Hardest: AP Chem- I never took it, but kids that were way smarter than me failed the AP exam
Easiest: AP Psych- the AP class for non-AP caliber students to say they have an AP
Most Popular: APUSH- Junir year is the time most people start APs, and naturally everyone thinks they know everything there is to know about American History, which is usually nothing more than George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and the Pearl Harbor
Least Popular: AP Physics C- 17 kids signed up for it this year (including me), and 2 years ago they didnt have enough kids for an official class, and all 9 (yes, 9) of them were put into forensics or anatomy.</p>

<p>Hardest: AP Chem. Teacher told us that the average score last year on the exam was a 1.7.</p>

<p>Easiest: AP Environmental. Teacher even admitted to that fact.</p>

<p>Most Popular: AP English Lang. “Oh, it’s just another English class!”</p>

<p>Least Popular: AP Bio. Class was dropped this year because only 3 people signed up XD</p>

<p>Hardest:
AP Chem (self-explanatory if you took the test)
AP Lang/Comp (cause the teacher is horrific and assigns art projects each week)
AP Foreign Languages (cause nobody can beat the fluent kids who curve the AP test)</p>

<p>Easy:
AP Psychology (self-explanatory)
AP Enviro Science (we have the #1 teacher in the nation, but only 50% of kids do any AP)
AP Music Theory (according to kids in it)</p>

<p>Most Popular:
AP Enviro Science (about 25% of the 1,400 kid school takes it)
AP World History (all the Honors and AP Sophomores take it by default almost)
AP US History (cause everyone thinks History is easy. but taking it with the horrific AP Lang/Comp teacher, they make the horrific duo)
AP Calc, Stats (self-explanatory)</p>

<p>Least Popular:
AP Econ (class has 1 period, nobody takes the test)
AP Euro History (its an elective, so not many can fit it)
AP Foreign Languages (yay for being one of two non-native AP Japanese takers! Boo for no Japanese or French 5.)</p>

<p>Bonus: AP Human Geog (seems like nobody in my school’s ever heard of it. I’m an Intl Relations major, so I’m taking it with a test prep book. Not taught here, so not heard of here).</p>

<p>We have 21 APs total. We’re not exactly that amazing of a school either. But I’ll list them just to show off.</p>

<p>AP Bio
AP Calculus AB
AP Calculus BC
AP Chem
AP Comp Sci
AP Eng Lang/Comp
AP Eng Lit/Comp
AP Enviro Sci
AP Euro Hist
AP French (if theres anyone)
AP Japanese (again, if anyone)
AP Macro (combined with Micro to make AP Econ)
AP Micro
AP Music Theory
AP Physics (you pick which of three tests to take)
AP Psych
AP Spanish Lang
AP Stats
AP Studio Art 2D
AP US Hist
AP US Gov
AP World Hist</p>

<p>Popular:
AP English Language (many take AP Lang then don’t take Lit because it’s so hard)
AP US History
AP World History</p>

<p>Hardest:
AB Calculus AB (we don’t have BC)</p>

<p>Easiest:
AP Psych
AP Enviro
AP Computer Science</p>

<p>Most Unpredictable:
AP Stats (literally half the class loves it because they think it’s easy, the other half hates it because they think it’s hard)</p>

<p>We don’t have any AP Science classes (other than Enviro, but meh…) but we have IB Bio and Chem. People love IB Bio but hate Chem :K</p>

<p>World History (Somewhat Popular and Easy): Not many people take this course because they’re simply uninterested in learning about other cultures. It’s easy because all you have to do is read what you are told to read, and bust out essays in class. It can be challenging if you tend to procrastinate.</p>

<p>U.S. History (Very Popular): Incredibly popular at my school, since we’re the “Hoo-ah, 'murica!” type of school. I couldn’t even get into this class last year because there were only two classes, each of which were filled with over 40 people! Made me pretty angry, actually…</p>

<p>English Language and Composition (Very Popular and Easy): Pretty much a requirement for anyone who has the slightest interest in going to college. Lots of kids took Honors English during their freshman and sophomore years, and are simply making a natural transition. Other kids who didn’t take Honors English can apply to be in this class; most make it in. The class is very easy, but our teacher assigns us books to read in preparation for AP Literature (this is also done during freshman and sophomore Honors English). I found this class to be even easier than sophomore Honors English.</p>

<p>AP Biology (Unpopular and hardly an AP): I haven’t actually taken this class yet, but I do know that there is only one period for it, and it’s usually pretty small. This class is the alternative to on-level Physics for our senior year, but most kids don’t take either of them (they go for Human Anatomy, the easiest science class). One of my friends described this as a class where he could take a nap for the day.</p>

<p>AP Literature (Very Popular and Easy): Basically the same thing as AP Lang. Even the laziest AP students will stick with this class until the end.</p>

<p>AP Calculus AB (Unpopular and Cry-Worthy Hard): Haven’t actually taken this class yet, but I will in the fall. Most students are scared senseless from Pre-Calculus, and will avoid this class like the plague. Perhaps the most difficult class in our school material-wise. Our Valedictorian almost lost his 4.0 to this class, but he scraped by and went on to Duke :o</p>

<p>AP U.S. Government (Unpopular and Cry-Worthy Hard): Like AP Calculus, most people avoid this class like the plague. Even hardened veterans from AP World History and AP U.S. History will pass on this class, for the homework is said to be ridiculous. Also, many kids are simply not interested in politics.</p>

<p>Hardest: AP Calc BC
Easiest: Probably AP Gov.</p>

<p>Most popular: Probably AP Gov again.
Least popular: Either AP Bio or Calc BC.</p>

<p>Art History: n/a
Biology: Unpopular and Challenging. Most people don’t take this course because they don’t like the teacher and they have to do a lot of work outside of class in order to maintain a decent grade. Scores range from 2-5. I’m taking this class and it only has 11 people in it.
Calculus AB: Somewhat Popular and Challenging. A lot of people take this course during their Senior year, but - like Biology - there’s a lot of outside work required and people would much rather take an easier math class.
Calculus BC: Unpopular and Challenging. Similar to above.
Chemistry: Unpopular and Easy. Exact same curriculum as Honors Chemistry, which is a prereq. to taking AP. Because of this, most people don’t take it.
Chinese Language and Culture: n/a
Computer Science A: n/a
Macro/Micro: Unpopular and Easy. The teacher is great but it’s only offered during one period of the day, so a lot of people take other courses in place of this.
English Language: Very Popular and Easy. This is the most popular AP at my school. About 150 kids took it this year. I made a 5 on this test and an A in the class without any outside preparation, but I also know a lot of people that made 2s and 3s and a C in the class. So I guess it’s more a matter of knowing how to analyze literature and grammar.
English Literature: Very Popular and Easy. Pretty much the same amount of people that take Language take Literature. This class is mostly just a lot of reading.
Environmental Science: Somewhat Popular and Lol this is an AP Class? Pretty much no outside preparation for class. Everyone at our school scores pretty high.
European History: Used to be Very Popular and Challenging, but they nixed this class.
French Language and Culture: Unpopular and Challenging. I am a Spanish kid, so I don’t know much about this. The people that take this really like French, so they typically do well on the exam.
German Language and Culture: Unpopular and Challenging. Same as French.
Comparative Politics: Very Unpopular and Challenging. This class barely made this year. LOVE the teacher though. Not sure how the students will fare on the exam since they haven’t offered it for a few years.
US Government and Politics: Very Popular and Easy. This class varies for people. I like politics so I hope that I’ll do a good job. There are 32 people in my class.
Human Geography: Popular and Lol this is an AP class? People at my school call this class “AP Coloring”, if that’s any indication of how much it ISN’T an AP class.
Italian Language and Culture: n/a
Japanese Language and Culture: n/a
Latin: Vergil: n/a
Music Theory: Unpopular and Challenging. If you aren’t extremely musically inclined, you will struggle in this class. The teacher makes it easier than it could be, but the test is crazy hard.
Physics B: Popular and Challenging. I’m not in this class, so this is secondhand knowledge, but the teacher at our school isn’t very good. Thus, most students do poorly on the exam.
Physics C: Unpopular and Challenging. Same as above.
Psychology: Very Popular and Easy. Got a 5 with no studying. A lot of people take this class because it’s supposedly an easy A but if you don’t study for the in-class tests, you’re pretty much screwed. The teacher is awesome and he’s writing me a college rec.
Spanish Language: Very Unpopular and Cry-Worthy Hard. I’m taking this right now, and I am one of 4 people in my class. I don’t know how this class made, but I wish I had decided on Spanish 4 instead because it’s extremely difficult.
Statistics: Unpopular and Challenging. As far as APs go, most people take regular courses because they take APs in English and History. I don’t know why.
Studio Art: Unpopular and Easy (if you are artistically inclined). The people that take this class are artistically talented and typically do well on the exam.
US History: Very Popular and Cry-Worthy Hard. This class is blocked with Pre-AP English in Sophomore year and is labeled “AP Block”. If you take this class and want to make a decent grade, your social life is over. And most people take this class, so we all lack social lives together.
World History: Very Popular and Easy. This class sucks. I say that it’s easy because I know the course information should be easy but I had the worst teacher ever.</p>

<p>AP US History: We just got a new teacher that’s easy as heckk. So, luckily, I’ll be taking her class this semester. She started teaching the class last semester (to the now Seniors) after the previous teacher retired, and a lot of kids had 100 averages in her class. So that’s just how easy it should be.</p>

<p>That’s probably the only AP at my school that’s noteworthy for its easiness/popularity right now.</p>

<p>Great thread, btw.</p>
