What is with the Rotisserie Chicken at Costco?

It has been the main stay on our table for many many years, but recently some thing happened. I am in Northern CA and the chicken had been very tasty, including the dark and white meat. However the last few purchases came out very lame, I asked the employees at the rotisserie pit and they say they have no control over the taste, because the chicken is prepared by the wholesaler.

Whats like in your neighborhood? I am thinking stop buying them.

I have bought them form time to time at our local BJs but I prefer to make them on my own. I bought one at our grocery store years ago and when I went to serve it, there was literally no meat left …nothing but skin and bones with no actual meat. That pretty much soured me on getting a pre-cooked chicken

Our Costco has very tasty chicken. Hmmm, maybe I will buy one and serve it tonite!

Seattle area here. Our Costco’s chicken is still very edible! It is several meals in one. Yum.

So Cal here…had one just the other day…delicious as usual!

Dang, was vetoed by D. Our Costco chicken is still same great quality anyway.

You guys are making me hungry. Dinner is still good 30 min away.

I did get one that was unexpectedly stringy and tough shortly ago. I gave it one more change, and the next one was fine.

I love love love Costco rotisserie chicken. And the price is awesome too.

Mine has been consistently good also.

Way too salty here in NY

I like their rotisserie chicken salad.

We’ve tried it several times and each time they came out pink in the middle- almost cooked all the way but not quite. Very annoying as I like rotisserie chicken. Luckily our local Food Lion makes wonderful rotisserie chicken.

~:> < That’s the Golden Chicken Award for one of the most specific threads I’ve ever seen on CC.

Chicken itself has very little flavor, more a matter of how long it sits in the marinade than the chicken itself. Corn fed, milo fed, and soybean fed 6 week old chickens are nearly indistinguishable.

You should complain to Costco. They know there is an issue.

I think the taste is delicious but I’m with ChuckleDoodle in that I think they are pink in the middle. I wish they would cook them a tad longer. They are also salty but that is probably why they taste good. I rarely buy them for those reasons. If I’m at Coatco and feeling super lazy I will on occasion buy one. H loves the price.

I find the texture a bit chalky and I think that’s from being overcooked. I haven’t gotten one in a few years so maybe I’ll try again.

Now I’m trying to figure out how @greenwitch finds the texture that deserves bleeping…

Ours are NOT pink and I watch them test several with the thermometer for doneness. Ours have an ok texture. They DO read customer feedback and respond if you want s response. I’d definitely give feedback.
