What is with the Rotisserie Chicken at Costco?

it’s weird @doschicos! The word is c h a l k y and for some reason it’s being bleeped. When I go back to edit, it looks fine so I can’t correct it.

I e pact any chicken I buy at Costco or Publix to be undercooked. When I go to serve, I am reheating. By then I know the chicken is OK.

I like their 2 lb packages of rotisserie chicken meat!

I love their rotisserie-chicken noodle soup.

Well, now I know what I’m getting for dinner tomorrow! I think that the trick is getting one that hasn’t been sitting around for too long because they can dry out- check the time on the bag or container and you’ll take home a nice, tender, juicy chicken!

Oh, man. Now I’m worried and will have to try one this weekend. So good. I need a trunk-load of ibuprofen too.

Really like their chicken and get one about once a week. We part it out and put the non- breast portions on the BBQ for a few minutes. It crisps up the skin very nicely. My family is odd in that no one want to actually eat the breast meat - so that gets put into tacos, noodles, soup or some other dish the next day.

Costco refunds money for everything else. Do they refund for the chickens?

Our Costco will take back and refund pretty much whatever you want to return and smile at you for being a loyal member and customer. Our returns folks are amazing! They even return things that have been partly consumed.

I get the rotisserie chicken legs from our Costco and they taste the same. I agree about mentioning it to someone in customer service.

If the chicken doesn’t hold the marinade then it will not taste as good. There are manufacturing plants that are better at keeping the marinade in the chicken before cooking than others. You should let them know.

Yes, I will let them know, because for twice, it was tasteless. Perhaps it is a local thing.

Apropos of Costco –

Is anyone else annoyed by the fact that there is no directory of the store? And, not only that, but they move things around all the time? I stopped at Customer Service on my way out the other day to suggest they add a directory at the head of every aisle and the fellow said I could ask any store associate for help. However, I’d much prefer to know that the rice is in Aisle 7 by seeing it on a directory that by having to find someone who will tell me that the rice is in Aisle 7.

It annoys me too but it makes things easier for them. They can move stuff around and not worry about signage. It probably contributes to keeping costs down.

Do you think its strategic? To keep customers wandering around the store a little bit more and hopefully making impulse purchases?

I think the whole point of moving things is to make you go through all the other sections so you can do lots of impulse buying. Go in for a gallon of milk and come out with a 65 inch TV!

I agree, they want you to walk through each aisle with hopes you will like something and put it in your cart.

And I usually do!

But it’s frustrating. I needed rice the last time I went and I couldn’t find it. They had moved it. I wasted some time wandering up and down and finally gave up. That’s not good customer relations.

I think shopping at Costco requires a lot of willpower. I think it’s best to shop with a certain amount of cash in your pocket so you don’t go over budget and go with a full stomach. And who can resist the free samples that makes you want to buy the product. I think that’s what makes the store so special. You never know what you’ll find.
