Our Costco does not move staples around. The seasonal stuff that is located in the middle gets moved often.
Going to Costco tonight. Might pick up one of those tasty chickens!

Our Costco is fairly predictable, but I do like that Sam’s does have some labels in the aisle that are somewhat helpful sine I only go there a few times/year.
Went toCostco tonight (I don’t go often). My husband is happy. I went for groceries and didn’t come back with luggage (or a new TV or an $18,000 diamond necklace - it was quite nice).
It’s a strategic move, just like no 12 items or less lines. It gets customers moving through the store. Amazing what jumps into my basket.
Is it a strategic move, or just a matter of logistics. If you have sold all the marinated artichokes and need room for the 3 bean salad - are you really going to move all those pallets of stuff to fit something in one exact spot???
I understand strategy to a point - but also considering the volume of any one thing, some of it is probably just stocking convenience.
So is the whole aisle of what is usually rice and quinoa and other similar things moved in your store???
When Coatco was a 45 minute drive I would come home with extra items. Now that Costco is 15 minutes away I tend to buy what I came for. I don’t go aisle to aisle. Our Costco did a big reorganization last year but most things tend to stay in the same general area.
Ours stays pretty consistent as well. Though like mom60’s Costco, ours did a big reorg last year. But the regular items are all in the same place.
Often, the things I can’t find turn out to be things they no longer carry. That is the only thing I don’t like about Costco; the number of things that disappear after getting to like them.
Yes. And I don’t know where it went.
@cstmap Could it be that some things are only sold in certain seasons?
I don’t think rice and quinoa are seasonal food items.
I find it annoying when the grocery stores rearrange everything. There is one I won’t go to at all any,ore because they seem to do this about once every two months.
No Costco near enough to me…but BJs labels their aisles.
I don’t think so. The things that go missing aren’t typically thought of as seasonal, like quinoa bowls. When I couldn’t find frozen Jamba Juice smoothies, the cashier told me to place an inquiry. The system was pretty old fashioned. They have a notebook up by the customer service where you write down the product you couldn’t find, each question going on a separate sheet. Then you are supposed to check the book next time you are in the store for an answer. I shop about there about once a month. When I checked the notebook, there were so many sheets (there are no dividers to organize the papers), I couldn’t find mine. I’ve never seen the Jamba brand again, but they did start selling the Yoplait brand at least for a time.
Home Depot has a much better system. You can search and locate items online and it will tell you the exact location of an item in a paticular store in terms of isle and bin number.
I love that for Home Depot and Lowe’s you can check for in store availability and then choose which one to go to, It prevents a lot of frustration!
