What is Yale good for?

What is Yale typically known as being excellent for?

Losing students to Harvard…! :P

(1) Very thin, expensive pizza, if you like that sort of thing, and

(2) very small, historic hamburgers.

In case you were not aware of it, New Haven’s greatest claim to fame is that it is the “Home of the Hamburger.”

medicine and law !

I believe Yale has the best history and French departments and among the best political science and theater departments.

Here are the top political science programs by a more reliable source, The London School of Economics, with, naturally, Columbia as #1: http://personal.lse.ac.uk/hix/Working%20Papers/Hix-PolStudiesReview-2004.pdf</a>. Harvard was a respectable #2 and Yale, #10. But who cares about rankings anyway.

How very sad that an adult professional feels the need to come on an advice board and denigrate the Institution, (actually the town, since it is NEW HAVEN and not Yale that is well-known for its culinary history) that so many young people either currently attend or hope to in the future.

Byerly, if you dislike Yale and New Haven so intensely, why not stay away from the Yale threads? Did it ever occur to you that the responsibility of the adults on this website is to be mature and set a good example rather than add to petty intolerance?

Don’t be so stuffy. Hope the transfer works out. Yale is a fine school.

Don’t forget biology.

Yale is also in the top 10 in Biological sciences, according to the USNews rankings:

What about Arts? (just among top ivies and such, not judging against Liberal arts schools)

Yale is the only Ivy with its own conservatory/school of music. Other graduate schools such as the School of Art and the School of Drama also are well-known and thus have tangible benefits for undergraduates (world-class faculty, etc.).

I don’t know about you, but I am on the edge of my seat, waiting Byerly to post additional rankings to burst Yale’s illusions of grandeur. Oh, the suspense…

Yale is among the best in all these areas, as the cited rankings show.

Wow Byerly! Im so proud of you!
