What is YOUR fall-back plan?

My fall back is spending a year in South Africa with my dad’s girlfriend’s family, gaining experience and volunteering, then reapplying.
Either that or working for a local photography company and going to FIU for 4 years.

I’d rather get into college though.

Gap year, and have at it again next go-round

Gap year, do research, and apply again.

i am guaranteed to a lower tier UC because of ELC top 4% thing. so i guess that’s a backdrop

however, if i don’t get into cornell i WILL BE VERY DISAPPOINTED. I HAVE TO GET IN.

My state’s school’s all accept over 60% of applicants and I plan on doing well enough to get into all of them including the most prestigious one fairly easily, I’m going to apply to 5 schools out of state though and maybe 1 or 2 in-state.

I guess I never really thought about it but I definitely do have that fear of not getting accepted anywhere. I mean I’m sure I will but I’m just paranoid…

But if I do get rejected from every college I apply to I’ll probably go to a community college and work to gain experience. That way I’ll at least have some full time work experience under my belt along with a few credits. And then I guess the next year or the year after that I’m going to apply again and apply to easier schools…

But I’m praying that doesn’t happen!

I’ve already been accepted into my first choice, an instate, and I have guaranteed acceptance into 6 other schools… so besides that, my backup is the community college and working.

If i dont get into college, im going to move out and get my own apartment. Even if i go to college i might want my own apartment so i dont have to live in a dorm.

I’m not too worried about getting into a school. I don’t want to jinx myself, but if I don’t get into my top choice, I am pretty certain that I will get into Southern Connecticut State University, and I will go there. Hopefully though for only a year so that I can transfer out because I hear that it is a super cliquey school and most people aren’t from out of state (I am).

Community college. Then transfer after my second year. I’ve heard it works quite well. Although my high school has a 96% acceptance rate for my state school. Woot

Okay - the suicide thing is not funny! This from the mom who didnt get in (way back in the day) to her reach or her chance, but went to state school…I have a great family, friends, and know that I am an educated woman. My daughter is a NMSF, applying to Stanford & you know what? If she doesn’t get in - she’ll be FINE! Sometimes where God closes one door, He opens another…I’m sure you all think I’m an idiot BUT it will all be okay. You have so much ahead of you, please don’t give up! I know how hard you all work - I have kids of my own that I watch and cringe at their stress :frowning: Just believe in yourself and you will see that everyone has a purpose and their own road…Live your journey and don’t ever wonder “what if” because it just doesn’t matter.

A gap-ish sort of year, since my only financial safeties are in the Philippines, whose school year differs from the US. What I want to do during then is probably go volunteer in Uganda with Invisible Children or do an internship at a French fragrance corporation. After that adventure, I’ll apply at either Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University, or the University of the Philippines. I think my fall-back plan’s lots better than committing suicide.

Harvard. 10char

I would go to NJIT (my safety) and then try to get into a good graduate school.

My fall back plan is probably Stanford. If I can’t make it in biochem, I can just get an easy math degree and get a PhD while I’m at it.

^ Haha, I hope you’re joking. Otherwise, I kinda hate you (in a friendly way, of course) =)

I have a safety that I know I’ll get in to, and I honestly wouldn’t mind going to it even if I get into some of my reaches. I actually like this particular SUNY, unlike many othere people. Heh.

“I decided that my back-up plan (and I really hope it doesn’t come to this) is to go to the community college in the next county, get a bartender license (you only have to be 18 for that where I live)”

You’re applying to Universities with your backup plan being bartending? Why not start at the CC and transfer?

Take a gap year. Definitely get a job and rack up a ton of money. Maybe take a few Gen Ed classes at a CC. (There’s only so much I can take, since I want to do engineering)
It would be nice to travel with the money from my new job, but I really need the money for school.
