I find feta to be quite salty. I love it on salads and gyros, but I’ve never tried it on pizza. It would be an odd pairing, imo, with the sweet/tangy pineapple (which I do not eat on pizza… as I think it clashes with all the toppings I like and Italian flavors in general. It takes over, and not in a good way.)

H does not digest feta so we don’t have it in the house and when it’s served, he tries to have it on the side or carefully removes it. It’s just Ok but since we all have varying degrees of lactose and now feta intolerance we rarely have much dairy or feta and don’t miss it much.

I’ve learned to really enjoy the dairy-free dessert options made by Ben & Jerry’s & Maunaloa. I find them delicious but I guess dairy-lovers may consider them food crimes.

Dominos nutrition menu shows feta cheese as having similar amount of sodium per gram as mozzarella, parmesan/asiago, and provolone. It’s only American cheese that has much higher salt. However, I do know what you mean about the taste. It has a saltier taste than other cheese options, in spite of not having more sodium. However, the part that was unpleasant for me was not this salty taste or salt. For example, the bacon on the pineapple side had more salt than feta, yet was not a problem for me. It was more I found the flavor, aftertaste, and smell of feta unpleasant and overpowering the other toppings. It’s difficult for me to describe the flavor of feta, as the flavor is not like anything else I have eaten before. Chat GPT says it tastes like Greek yogurt or salted butter. I can see some similarity between this, but also large differences. Chat GPT also listed feta as the 3rd most polarizing cheese type based on having both high strong like and strong dislike percentages, after blue cheese and goat cheese.

Chat GPT listed pineapple as the most polarizing pizza topping based on same criteria. I wasn’t a fan of pineapple on pizza in the past. I had hoped combining with different toppings might change it this time, but that was not the case. The 2 toppings that I disliked were feta and pineapple. One of my motivations was to use the “any toppings” offer to try something new, and I did so. Some food experimentations are hits. This one was a miss.

I did find it unique that the left side with the pineapple, feta, and chicken tasted better when not fresh. While the right side with meat toppings tasted worst when not fresh, including after reheating. The lack of freshness is probably reducing the flavor, which is positive for left side and negative for right side.

For my last try before the offer expires, I’m planning to try some of the mild spicy options, which I have been avoiding for years.

One of my favorite pies from a pizzeria that is no longer around was the 5 alarm with hot peppers and hot Italian sausage, loved it.

This my 3rd and final try (offer expires this weekend), and I think my topping combinations were winners. The left side is themed on toppings I’d enjoy on a sandwich or cheeseburger. The right side is meat themed and introduces some light spiciness,. It avoids toppings that would interfere with that spiciness, including ones that become watery when heated. The new toppings that I haven’t had in many years were onions on left and Italian sausage on right. I had initially planned to also have a hotter pepper on right, such as jalapeno or banana. However, after seeing that both had a good amount vinegar in the ingredient list, I knew they wouldn’t go over well and decided to skip. Chicken was skipped because it is not available at this time nationwide. Store managers were told to throw out all of their chicken. There are rumors it was removed due to possible allergen contamination during manufacturing (peanut oil).

I thought both sides were excellent. I was pleasantly surprised how well both of the new toppings complemented to the overall flavor. I have been hesitant amount onions after having Philly cheesesteak sandwiches where the sweet onions ruined the sandwich, but regular not as sweet onions on the left side did not have this issue. In general, I not a fan of sausages and not a fan of spicy foods, so I have been avoiding Italian sausage on pizza for many years. However “light” Italian sausage combined with 5 other meats does not overpower the taste or flavor, nor is it too spicy. Instead it compliments as a pleasant addition, particularly in the aftertaste.

I need to stop looking at your pizza pics in the middle of the afternoon… :yum:

Good for you branching out! I’m glad you enjoyed!
