What is your internet speed?

TWC sent mail telling me my bill will increase to $92/month. They said my promotion period expired. In fact I did not subcribe to any promotional program in the last 2 years. I had basic TV and turbo internet with 20 Mbps. I never had 20 Mbps. The highest speed I had was about 12 Mbps.

Today I called I asked why they increase my fee. They could not explain well. I asked them to switch to their current special service Start TV and Extreme Internet with 30 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload for $64.99/month. I exchanged the cable modem/router box.

I just tested the new speed on both ethernet line and wireless. The speed is impressive: 34 Mbps download and 5.7 Mbps upload. I don’t know how much they will charge me after 12 months though. I probably will downgrade the service to 15 Mbps (TWC lowest speed now) if they ask for more money.

What is your speed? Are you happy with it?

Download speed is 204.36 Mbps.
Upload speed is 105.35 Mbps.

Don’t use an Ethernet cord.
It’s alright, I guess. To be honest, it’s a bit slow right now.

In the remote mountain village in Japan where we go skiing, the internet speed is a “slow” 100Mbps. Snail pace compared to Tokyo.

204 Mbps is slow for you? Who is the provider?

Forgive me, I should’ve said “slower than usual.”

I’m going to miss this speed when I move off campus. :’(

Ah! College perk. Good for you.

Too slow.

~15 kb/s

No, I’m not kidding.

Just checked Verizon FIOS with Verizon speed test and Speedtest.net- both the same with computer wired through electric outlet to router. 25 Mbps up and 15 down. Lucky college students with access to those high speeds.

This is wifi, so it is slower in general, 58 mbps download and 8 mbps upload.

Verizen FIOS wireless just checked on my iPad at about 23 download and 17 upload. Of course, I would like higher but not willing to pay more at this time.

Mine is 38, wifi. It’s comcast. Is Verizon better?

I am looking at these speeds with envy. I live on a small island and for $85 per month we get 4Mbps download and you don’t want to know upload.

Per speedtest.net, right now 101 down and 9.7 up. My hope is the upload speeds start to increase. I had 25 down and it was not fast enough. (I have RCN, a cable company in only a few markets.) It is, IMHO, worth it to get fast internet, meaning 75 and over downstream.

Comcast:
download right now… 18.12
upload… 11.91

AT&T users in our neighborhood are not getting anywhere near this, so I guess I’m thankful??

I think I get 20 download and 2 upload. We pay $56 and it includes a landline with our phone company. It’s much faster than we used to get and works fine for our purposes. D insisted we upgrade from basic DSL, which was much slower.

Wireless
Download: 56.39 - Peak: 56.72
Upload: 11.64 - Peak: 12.14

With Frontier broadband (wireless)…15ish download, 2ish upload. Ugh.

Remember the good old days with telephone modems and those speeds? Internet use was so slow I didn’t do it…

I would love to have 100+.
