What Keyboard should I get?

<p>I’m 17 yrs. old and want to start to learn how to play the piano/keyboard. I have a small job at the mall, therefore cash is sort of restricted:) I can’t afford a real piano so I’ll have to make do with a keyboard, problem is, the real 88 key boards are all really expensive (upwards of $400) and I can’t spend more than $170.</p>

<p>Will it be bad for me to start practicing and learn the hang of the piano/keyboard through a 61 or 68 key keyboard? I would invest more later of course.</p>

<p>I’ve played piano for quite a few years and I own a Casio keyboard. It’s a full 88-key though that was pretty expensive. It won’t be bad to start on a 61 key though. Honestly, you probably won’t use the lower and higher octaves in beginner music anyway. I would get the first one though. The Touch-Sensitive Keyboard is a good idea to learn on because you will be able to develop more musicality with the weight of the keys. Then, if you play in front of anyone on a real piano you will already be used to the weighting of the keys. Good luck though in your search and your playing!</p>

<p>The best option would be to save for a keyboard with weighted keys, but I guess one of those would be fine to learn on. Just be ready for a big change in the feel of the keys</p>
