Scientific research? Mathematical proofs? Poems? Performances? As I await April’s decision, I’m curious to know what you possibly-future Chicagoans submitted :P

I submitted a one act play about the Id, Ego, and Superego (I hope they won’t mind 6.5 pages, it moves quickly I swear!) and a CD of myself playing part of Bach’s Violin Concerto in A minor.

Haha, I know, but I also know some pretty outstanding students in my high school who would probably attempt to impress them with a proof.

Besides, Chicago DOES say this: “Perhaps you are an artist, a writer, a performer, or someone who uses spare time to do mathematical proofs, and you want to send us a sample of your work.”

DS sent in his research paper. Proved a new theorem. (Sorry – not to be snarky, but in some fields it’s possible to do this.) Also sent two supp recs, including one from the mentor who verified how DS came up with the idea and that he (the mentor) had not realized its relevance until DS demonstrated it to him. Also sent an activities/awards/etc. resume.

Submitting art, music or drama would have been painful for all concerned. :)

I just had a supplemental recommendation from my French teacher. Chicago was the only school for me that REQUIRED an English/history teacher (for all the others it was English/history/foreign language), and my French teacher’s rec was absolutely glowing to say the least. :)
