I think if you improve your ACT and SAT Reading scores you should be fine. Your other scores are great and so are your extracurriculars. I think if you bring up your reading score in both a 2350+ is VERY feasible, as others have said, judging from your 800s in Math and Writing. Good luck!
Idk I took it twice but my CR stayed the same… Its so stupid
@Bluerav
So do you think I could get above 700 on CR?
I think you have a good chance at all and brown is low reach. u have a lot of leadership which is very good.
I would not fret over scores; if you can improve them, that’s good, if you can’t, that’s fine too. Your research and clubs far outweigh any significance in your scores; I am not an expert on medical school competition, but I know many Asians go in with 2400s and not really much ECs and get rejected. You are the opposite, so I think you would be in great shape. Maybe include a research supplement in your apps, that always gives a more tangible impression on your research results.
@TheUltimateNerd
I will be publishing two papers by the time I do Brown ED. One is about plant&insect commensalism/ the other is about one disease that is affecting a number of people. How would i do research supplement? I am doing art supplement and know how to do that but never heard of research supplement… Thank you!!!
@rangerstown
Thank you!!
Update: I got a 31 on ACT reading. I will probably get 35 by September.
Good scores. I recommend adding Johns Hopkins, UPenn, Cornell, Emory, and CWRU to your list.
@JalapenoGreens
I am doing JHU and Empty for RD, CWRU as bs md
Maybe its just me but I’m a bit surprised by how you and others seem to be putting down your extracurriculars so quickly. At my school many kids who spend a lot of time on math and science competitions like yours but only get past the school level in Chemistry Olympiad, barely manage to qualify for AIME(sometimes even score less than 100), and rarely do well in Science Olympiad: this year was the first year people from our school went to Nationals, and they got like 56th and individually the higher placements were like in the twenties. Yet those people from our school consistently get accepted to top tier schools like Ivies, Stanford, UPenn, etc. Moreover, they are usually president of 1 or 2 clubs for one year:senior year. If anything, the fact that you’ve been president for 3,4, or 5 years seems a bit weird since that would mean that you got elected to president as a middle schooler or freshman? It makes the clubs sound sort of like a joke. I don’t know, maybe its only our school where usually seniors are presidents? Lastly, I want to add that I’m not trying to insult or offend your extracurriculars, what I’m trying to say is that they look extremely impressive.
@johntait1
No I am president as a senior. I worked my way up… Maybe I should have specified that. I was a member/lower officer til senior year. And just because someone young is a president that means nothing tbh. My club HOSA became the biggest out of 44 clubs in only one year even though I was only a sophomore when I founded it.
@johntait1
And for the competitions wise, I study at least 4 or 5 hours every day while year so that I can do well in AIMe, USNCO, Science Olympiad, etc. It takes time and took like 4 or 5 years to accomplish all these. Just cuz your school students are not like this you should not talk in that way… And your words are full of sarcasm.

@jhgong hey dude, I just wanted to say, you look like a pretty solid applicant. one of my friends is also at study camp right now (if you can find out who he is). I honestly think your ECs are outstanding, although your profile might lean a little towards being a “me too!” profile. Regardless, you seem like an excellent student, just make sure to differentiate yourself when you’re writing essays. Also, it’s great that you’ve worked your way up in each and every one of your clubs, it shows how well you’ve developed over the years. I honestly think that you can get into most, if not all, of the colleges you listed. Good luck!
@johntait1 is posing a real concern. There was no sarcasm in his comment. In my school you can only be president if you’re a senior so I’m also kind of puzzled that you would be able to president of a club sophomore year. Even if you start your own club in my school, there’s usually a senior that takes the president position. In general, when you start a club it’s not yours but rather the communities’ club so i agree with john in that it’s odd that you could be president at such a young age but it just makes you look better. You seem like a great applicant so I think you’ll get into most of the colleges you listed. You seem to lack people skills, or maybe you just misinterpreted what he said because you were sleepy, but luckily for you colleges don’t judge you based on your people skills. You need to loosen up a little bit.
@Coldsummer123
Um I was just confused since my school has several clubs with underclassmen as presidents and still run well. Our school picks the most qualified candidates rather than the oldest. And I founded HOSA it was with 2 juniors and 3 sophomores so no seniors there.
@Coldsummer123 I agree that I did not sense sarcasm but he did qualify his statement by mentioning that he worked up and that he just did not clarify.
Anyway, my take on it is that you are a shoo-in for everything you apply to. Obviously, you probably won’t get in ALL of them, but I suspect you will get in most of them, as long as you write a good essay and have good recs.
Perhaps write an essay that shows you are not just another Asian but full of passion and of diverse tastes (art and bowling are good candidates here) .
Also, don’t be too surprised with a rejection or too. Sometimes adcoms don’t choose the most qualified but honestly, I would say that it’s their loss, regardless of their selectivity.
Good luck! I’m sure you’ll get in. Just by seeing your many accomplishments (and having talked to you) I know that you are an awesome applicant who has put a lot of work in high school and deserves the program of his dreams. Honestly, 5 hours of self studying a day for years is incredible diligence. Also, the EC blow away the SAT, which only serves to show you are" ready for college work". The SAT honesty means very little (which is why 2400 gets people nowhere). Btw, for SAT II, if possible, only submit 800 in chem physics and math II. The rest are not contributing and only detrimental (bio is non 800, math I shows obsessiveness with testing).
As you probably know, I’m also a rising senior (as are basically everyone who has replied, with exceptions) so take my advise with caution. I’m wishing the best for you, as I think you are a pretty cool person! Good luck!
Thank you @andyis
I am writing about my experience in science olympiad that led to higher bowling average lol for my essay. Thank you for advice and encouragement!
@jhgong I am incredibly confused about what you are writing about my comments. I began my comment by saying that your extracurriculars are much better than students at my school who have made it into very competitive institutions. Nowhere in my post did I mention that you did not deserve the awards that you won: I simply mentioned that many extremely intelligent students from my school who spend a huge amount of time each day on the same competitions have achieved much less than you have, implying that you must be extremely hardworking and intelligent to achieve these things. I am utterly confused on why you would use the language that you did in response to my praise of your competition achievements. As for the clubs part I apologize for any confusion. Your original post of “President-5 years” led me to believe that you had been President of the clubs for five years in a row, which would have meant you were running it was an eighth grader. Nowhere in my post did I mention that you were not qualified for those positions. I simply mentioned that it is an unusual for that to happen at my school and I then asked about your own school, requesting for information for norms at it. I ended by adding that I was trying to compliment your extracurriculars in a civil manner and meant no disrespect toward your achievements at all. At that point I was honestly wondering if you just misinterpreted my comments or were just trolling? I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt respond in a civil manner and hope that you will do likewise. Lastly, I do not see how any of it was sarcasm, so could you point out why you thought my comments were sarcastic so that I can improve my writing?
@Coldsummer123 Thank you for the information about your school. I was starting to think my school was completely different or something. Also, glad to know that others aren’t reading any sarcasm from my post; I was starting to think maybe my writing was really that bad…
