Hello all!
I am currently a freshman, so I guess it makes sense that I am quite confused what to do with my life. Also, I take all honors courses (H. alg2/trig, H. Bio, H. English, AP Human, H. Engineering). Now, I have approached quite the predicament. Like most asian parents, my parents want me obviously to pursue a major in the STEM field. Now, before high school I was set on applying myself toward STEM field, which is shown as I took honors engineering. However, after first semester, I am sort of realizing who I am as a person (not how my parents constructed me). I managed to get all As except for bio, which I just realized I’m not too great at biology. And, with algebra 2 I barely got an A (90.09). However, I was able to get the highest grade in English in my class. Through my first semester, I have sort of realized that I actually enjoy English. Nevertheless, my parents told me anything that revolves around english does not matter. I managed to get a high A in engineering, and my parents told me that I’m “destined” to become an engineer. But, the thing is I am not as strong in math/bio as I am in English. I was doing some research and sort of liked the business major. My only problem is that my school does not offer honors business courses like the engineering program do. I am looking at taking only two honors business courses senior year (AP Macro/Micro). I don’t want to sacrifice GPA for an idea that may or may not actually occur. Its not that I hate STEM, I just have more of an interest in other things. Also, my parents and I found this cool camp called northwestern CTD, and we are having trouble picking out a course for me to do there due to me not being set what I want to do in life. Sure, I may find honors critical discourse fun at CTD, but my parents think I should do data science. Now, I found that course interesting, but will I eventually do data science in my future is my question as I have sort of became interested in business. Also, in school I am not in math team or science olympiad, I am in speech, Business professionals of America, and MUN. So, please help me figure out what to do with my life…
