what sorts of colleges should i be looking into

volunteer at animal shelter once a month
thinking about starting an animal welfare club at my school</p>

<p>im really nervous about applying for colleges because i know my gpa isnt that good. I’m trying to make up for it with extracurriculars though and i hope that will help.</p>

<p>I want to go to a school in the southeast, or possibly on the west coast. I really like university of south carolina, and i am leaning towards a bigger school

<p>Hmm. Emory is like the best plae ever, but the GPA will probably keep you out.</p>

<p>research. i did a lot of mine on collegeboard’s website. I think UNC chapple hill is a big school, and its a good school, and there are other good schools. One thing you can also do is search the college’s forum on CC.</p>

<p>^glad to help. if you like the southeast, you might also try Gtech. i don’t know if that’s your cup of tea since its a tech school but…its a very good college. good luck with your apps and college searching!</p>

<p>You should also check out Students Review (attach these two and add a .com, since it puts *** whenever I put the link) because students tell of their experiences and any problems or things they don’t normally tell you in brochures of the colleges you’re looking at. But remember to keep in mind that some students are extremely biased, sometimes they don’t like hard work, don’t like no parties or complain about late fees when it really was their fault.</p>

<p>honestly, i have no idea how to increase chances of getting into a school/program. they’re so unpredictable. just maintain a high GPA, get a good SAT/ACT score, and try to keep ECs that are not simply fluf ECs, but actually good ones that you are genuinely interested in. Of course, sometimes things like GPA are too late to change, but its not the end of the world.</p>

<p>and i learned from my app process that getting into a school does not determine how good a student you are. and they do care about the whole package like what you are interested in, what your strengths/weaknesses are. </p>

<p>don’t try to be so anxious. I also happened to learn (the hard way) that you can’t control the school’s decision, so you shouldn’t loose sleep over it. </p>
