It seems to me it’s very very very easy to set-them-and-forget-them, which is why I don’t have subscriptions to a lot of things I would probably enjoy – HBO Max, Paramount+, Apple TV, and so forth. I’m nervous I’d wind up with hundreds of dollars of subscriptions that I don’t even remember. I’ve got:
NYTimes
Washington Post
YouTube TV
Serius Radio
YouTube TV
McAfee Virus Protection
AAA
Amazon Prime
HP Ink
Well this is kinda funny- we get HBO max with our comcast(Xfinity) account, but one s uses it a lot, and now they must have some upgrade and in the process somehow the HBOmax is now attached to HIS email!! And I just read that they are planning to crack down n account sharing, so. Wonder if we will be able to use it!!
My WaPo expires sometime this month so I have to look for another deal.
My only other subscriptions that I can think of are actually storage for the photos/memory and my botanical gardens membership.
HBO Max/Hulu/Disney Plus bundle
Netflix
Amazon music, Spotify
Duolingo (for us both)
Easy German
Expertly German (learning podcast/materials)
AAA
CLZ Comics (H)
Beachbody
Ring
Some of these I had to look up on my master info sheet
The ones that I have maintained continuously during 2025 are:
Netflix – $4.66/month
Hulu – $0.99/month
Instacart + Peacock – $20/year = $1.67/month
I also have shorter term trials. For example, I just ended a free Amazon Prime trial earlier today. I am also currently doing a free 3 month trial of Audible, which was linked to the Prime trial above. I may start a free ~3 month trial of Paramount+ or Apple+ soon, now that the Amazon trial is over.
Many people say this, and I’m sure it is true for many, but it seems foreign to me. Do you not look at your credit card charges or otherwise monitor spending, such that you wouldn’t notice how much you are spending on monthly subscriptions?
Local newspaper online edition
HBO Max
Disney
Hulu
Peacock
Streaming subscriptions were purchased on sale. We normally subscribe to 2 streaming services.
Apple TV is free with my cell plan
Amazon Prime
Consumer Reports
Boltsmag (focus on local elections)
Wired
Mother Jones
HP Ink
LeMonde (by employer)
Courrier International (by employer)
Télérama (French culture mag)
Whatever TV comes free with fiber connexion
(Cancelled NYT and WaPo)
I do look at my credit card charges, frequently. And we have occasionally subscribed to some service mindfully, to watch something specific (Apple TV to watch Ted Lasso) and then canceled it when we finished watching. Maybe I should stop being so concerned about not remembering.
Son of a gun – I just discovered I do have access to Hulu. Son has Disney+, which he’s loaded on our TVs so his kids can watch when they’re here. Disney+ has never interested me, but I just figured out he’s got a Disney+ and Hulu bundle, so I can watch Hulu. I’m a happy girl.
