<p>I had signed up to have a friend of mine assigned as my roommate, but I just got my assignment and, much to my dismay, it is some random person. I know we filled out the forms right, we did it together, and our housing preferences and whatnot were identical. </p>
<p>I’m sure my random assignment isn’t a terrible person or anything, but I’d really been banking on rooming with my friend. We’re both kind of confused as to how this happened. What, if anything, can be done to rectify the situation?</p>
<p>Contact them immeadiately, they have hundreds of students to go thru. It can happen. The faster they find out, the better you’re chances are that it is good before you get there. There should be a contact email and/or phone number that came with it. If not go on uiuc.edu and find your dorm and use that contact info. Just do it quickly.</p>

Check thefacebook.com and type in your future roomate’s name to see what kind of person he/she is.</p>
<p>My roommate won’t even answer the phone or write an email telling me who he even is. I don’t even know where he is, or if he even really exists.</p>
