What to say when someone asks for blessing to marry D

He definitely sounds like a keeper. I hope your daughter thinks so!

I’m sure it’s difficult, but what a happy secret to keep :-).

I was wondering if the young man was going to get their blessing about moving in together, get a pet, go on a vacation, buying a house…

cbreeze, I don’t think they make a lot like your future SIL. You and your D are fortunate.

Alu, jmson is in spitting distance of AluD - outside Philadelphia. Gainfully employed, slender, but still not tall. And I can line up right next to you to be shot :).

Oldfart,
Any one with son, knows that you can only do so much.

When I was dating DW, I noticed that she looked way past my faults and wondered how could she mould me into the perfect man. It wasn’t the look of love but challenge. We just rough formed DS. Its up to the wife to do the rest. :)

I may be, but I don’t think you meant that.:)

I talked about this thread at the dinner table tonight. D2 said, “Do people still do that?”

It is interesting because I have always said I would like to meet our girl’s date before they go out, and I would like their date to pick them up at our house (no honking in the driveway). D2 is in high school and she is just started to date. She makes them come to our house(apartment) to meet us first.

I am hoping what I said at our dinner table is going to stick with D2. As I said, I would like a SIL like OP’s someday.

Thanks. My D lucked out and so did he. I don’t think this young man is a pushover being a litigation attorney with a biglaw firm here in NY. My H is a physician and always very wary with attorneys, but this one is a really nice guy.

lol, I talked about this thread at the dinner table, too.

Let me know when y’all are on Say Yes to the Dress, so I can make sure to watch.

As for taking notes for son, I’m right here. I’ve got a freshman mech eng major, never had a girlfriend, and I’m sure I’ll be in LongPrime’s shoes, already am, in a few years, too.

LOL…Oldfort, you were kidding, right? I hope…

“I don’t love your daughter enough to marry her, but I’d love to have premarital sex with her on a regular basis until I get tired of her, is that cool with you…dude?”

I’m glad to know there are other sweet men out there. ;)

My first three gifts at Christmas were an electric griddle, a box of pancake mix, and a large spatula… I looked at him in a very weird way and he told me it was a promise of breakfast in bed. I’ve had five or six full breakfasts cooked for me so far. Boy does he love that griddle… he’ll make the bacon, pancakes, even sausage right on it! After that I got a bunch of ‘normal’ gifts… but I thought it was adorable that I got ‘on going’ breakfast in bed as a gift, lol.

^^^fendergirl, that’s a keeper!

We are now home in CA and got a call from D this afternoon. She was crying and I asked her what happened. She was just proposed to by her BF (now fianc

Wow!! How cool.

I say you and your H need to celebrate, too!

Thanks for sharing. This is really nice. I am a sucker for good news.
