What to wear for Model UN?

I’m going to the University of Hartford this Friday for my last and final Model UN field trip. After that Model UN basically ends. I need some tips on what to wear and things like that though.

I heard things about debating. Got any debating tips? Also what is a formal debate and what does it feel like to be involved in one?

I was told to wear something formal. I’m planning to wear a white dress shirt with tie, black dress pants, dress shoes and maybe the black formal jacket. Is that a good idea? Also is the black formal jacket that goes over your white dress shirt necessary? Do most people wear it?

Also does anyone have any other tips for my trip?

I do Model Congress and I’d say what you’re planing to wear is perfect. Wear the jacket, you can always take it off.

Sounds too plain imo. I don’t think MUN is that formal, the kids in my school usually just go in chinos and a sweater/dress shirt underneath.

I can tell you that your not “supposed” to put together dress pants and coat that are of the same color unless they are part of the same suit. If it really matters for some Model UN trip for high schoolers, probably not.

For the rest of this post, I going to refer to both a suit and a sport coat and pants combo of the same color as a suit…

In general black suits are considered more formal than I would expect for a a Model UN field trip. Navy or charcoal would probably me more appropriate. Again, probably doesn’t matter though.

If you’re going to wear black pants make sure your dress shoes are black. If decide to change to navy, make sure your shoes aren’t (ox blood is the usually the most appropriate color, but that can depend on the shirt/tie combo), for charcoal black shoes are fine.

Your belt color should match your shoes color.

If you do a black suit or just black pants, try to get a burgundy tie. If not, try to get something which you think compliments well, but don’t get a black tie. I don’t think that is a “dress rule” but to me it looks dumb. Also, don’t wear a blue tie (that one is a “dress rule”)

Okay… So those are just the big rules there… And yes I know it’s ridiculous that I know those.

What I think you should wear? The black pants and white dress shirt with a tie sounds fine. I don’t think a black coat is necessary, or even appropriate.

lingerie santa costume

^ But OP is a guy so that choice is ruled out.

^ No it just makes it an even worse suggestion

A female Santa would be weird… Should be an elf or something.

^ Would you rather see a Men’s lingerie santa costume???

^^ ***… 10char

Santa lingerie costume is weird, since the defining characteristics of Santa are fat and long white beard, neither of which I find sexy. Maybe a general Christmas themed lingerie, but not Santa.

Santa Lingerie Costume = Lingerie + Santa Hat.

Just for clarification.

More specifically: Red Lingerie + Santa Hat
