My daughter has done the same with a wonderful host family who we had never met. Her internship is a pathways position, meaning it probably will lead to a permanent job upon graduation, and this summer will be her third summer with the organization and the family. I don’t know how we could ever repay their kindness.
They live in a very large home with a pool and the mom is a social butterfly. My daughter has her own room with an en suite bath while staying with them.
We live in a small downsized home that has one small living area. I’m very introverted and I feel overwhelmed if I don’t have privacy and space. I would never make an offer to host a kid that I didn’t know for more than a couple of days. I know that’s selfish considering what’s been give to my daughter, but I can’t fake a different personality and it would be unfair to the kid to have to live in an uncomfortable situation.
