What will you leave behind?

Most young people have not thought about their future realistically or detailed (I haven’t!), as their prefrontal lobes of the brain are not yet fully developed.

Yet, I’m tempted to ask, what do you want to leave behind in this world before you pass into the next?

Do you want to leave behind a family? A book? The next Apple Computer Company? A political legacy? A bulging bank account?

Let’s hear it.

Well not to sound narcissistic but honestly I’ve always dreamed of having an historical legacy. I used to have a fascination and have jealousy towards Alexander the Great because I have his name but I live in an era where building an empire is near to impossible. Anyway, that was back when I was an immature 8th grader, now I’m a junior and have more realistic and planned out goals. I primarily want to have a good family that care about each other and to be a theoretical physicist. Also I may one day try for political prowess and maybe one day run for president, as I still want to be remembered for something great and I feel theres a lot wrong with this country that needs fixing. I’ll most likely just end up being an engineer or be a professor at some college some day. But I will still maintain these goals, even if I fall short.

Better security of information systems.

Lots of money donated to non-profits
Lots of publications
Lots of people who have been inspired by me

Don’t want a family, probably won’t be rich.
I want to educate people through teaching and maybe other kinds of activism. Maybe I’ll contribute to mathematical research, but I’m probably not enough of a genius.
(Also, I want to grow my hair as long as it will possibly grow, then cut it off and donate it right before it turns gray. :D)

family  maybe a book or some papers. but other than family, I think I’ld be more focused on the next world rather than what to leave behind in this one

I have an old dream: Turning the Math/Science team into a team that finally gets to crush the superpowers (magnet/rich/resourced schools) of academic competitions that never give up their darn victory. Now it’s basically seeing if I can coach the school team / donate money in the future. I fear for the future as my school is losing it’s just short of victory glory as the focus of students is shifting and less effort overall is done; as well redistricting has already eaten into the supply of brilliant students.

Being an important engineer in some of the modern developments… Not even sure if I can stand out amongst peers, but I’ll be part of something big for the energy industry.

Books. Maybe a family. That sounds sort of weird but I don’t think I want kids.

^ Personally I want to focus on my career, and not have kids. Not because I don’t want to be distracted, but I fear I could not adequately care for them.
