Yum! Love cabbage. I’m eating my last cup of cauliflower soup (no cream but creamy!) that I made earlier in the week right now….maybe I’ll try this next!
This is perfect. I have everything in the house to make it:
Ta-da! The soup is awesome. Imo, adding some spices would be fine, too. All veggies came from Costco, even the cabbage. ![]()
Randomly, as soon as I looked at that pic I noticed the cat food - We use that brand too :).
Cabbage is good, but I think too much can make you gassy.
The only way I really like cabbage is Cole slaw. Not a fan of cooked cabbage. I have tried to like it and I love other greens like collards and kale but just would never buy cabbage to cook it.
Depends on what you grew up with I guess. I personally love cabbage but dislike kale and collard greens ![]()
Strangely, I never have that problem with cooked cabbage.
We eat a lot of red cabbage in our lunch salads every day. I also Iike cole slaw, but I will not eat cooked cabbage.
Interesting… Now that I think about it, the salad I ate that caused me problems has uncooked Brussels sprouts too, so maybe that’s the problem.
If you cook down cabbage with some diced or sliced potato and butter, olive oil, salt pepper and maybe paprika slow and low it was turn into a buttery soft pile of yum.
We just had this the other night. I used Beyond meat because I don’t eat red meat. And I used a bag of premade for cole slaw shredded cabbage and carrots. We’ve had it several times. Easy and delicious.
Looks great.
I personally wouldn’t touch beyond meat with a long pole, sorry, but this can work with ground turkey!
You can substitute anything you’d like for meat in any recipe. I sub mushrooms, smoked tofu, lentils, or quinoa in any recipe where I don’t want the meat (or poultry). I’ll make this one with quinoa and omit the sugar.
I make this with ground chicken - yum.
This one is in our regular rotation, with whatever extra veggies we have on hand added in https://www.theseasonedmom.com/egg-roll-in-a-bowl/
Pretty benign ingredient list, but thanks for letting me know. ![]()
I said personally. Nothing against others’ personal choices. I think you meant a thank you smiley instead of the eyeroll. ![]()
I’ve seen the patents covering the product. It is a prime example of ultra-ultra processed food. IMO, OK for occasional consumption, but who knows what the synthetic meat can do to one’s gut health in the long run. Personally, I’d just use turkey or quinoa as choatiemom said.
You all reminded me of an old family favorite…..cabbage casserole! Basically, shredded cabbage, par-boiled and baked in a cheese sauce (with bread crumbs on top, of course)….sounds weird, tastes great. I might have to make me some of that! Yummy.
It would always go along the other family fave of Ham Loaf (a post for another day)
