Whatcha Doin New Years....New Years Eve....!

I’m very non-celebratory on NYE - BUT enjoy hearing what others are doing - if anything. If you’re going out, if you’re staying home, what you’re eating, what you’re watching, what games you will play!

D2 is having one of her roommates up to spend Eve/Day - they will probably do some shopping during the day and hang out at our house in the evening - not ones to head out in the NYE mess! I have a little bubbly I may open. I suspect some good snacks, a board/card game or two, maybe a movie and probably some Christmas cookies!

Oh, and our yearly tradition of wrapping the change we collected all year. And deciding what to use it on.

Low key and I like it.

How about you?

Our friends are hosting NYE this year. Not a big party but a small gathering of old friends. Potluck and a DJ. After a bout of the flu, I am looking forward to ringing in the new year in good health!

Both of my girls are busy and I don’t have any invite. My kids were feeling guilty about me staying at home, until they heard that I have ordered live lobster, crabs and oysters to build a seafood tower with a nice bottle of champagne. I am looking forward to a quiet evening at home to watch the ball drop. It is going to be very cold in NYC and it is going to be crazy out there. I may even binge watch some tv series.

When is New Year’s Eve? Tomorrow? I don’t celebrate New Year’s except insofar as it’s my son’s birthday.

We are going out early just for apps and drinks with one other couple. Then back to their house for gumbo and wine and to play euchre. Might be home before midnight! No kids home here, D and SIL are going out where they live and S is flying back to London today.

Planning to attend a 2 hour Holiday yoga class on New Year’s Day and then going on to a friend’s annual NYD party.

This year we are going back to an old tradition (we had stopped when daughter was in college). Having an early (6 pm) dinner with a few other couples (it used to be families but now just couples since daughter is back “home” after her Christmas visit and all the other “children” are now over 20). We then go home and watch the ball drop and go to bed.

Daughter will be able to experience First Night where she lives (did it for the first time last year). They have a full line up all afternoon and into the next day.

I’ll be working, but hopefully will be home by midnight. I’m looking forward to being off Monday.

Sitting for my grand-puppy while D out of town…so doling out puppy xanax because fireworks terrify her. Not my favorite night of the year. And my town has a cool NYE family friendly event which would be fun if I were younger and could stay awake that late!

Maybe going to a movie if we can find one we can agree on. If not, staying home and drinking our cocktail of choice at the moment (whiskey sours) and searching for a movie we can agree on OnDemand or Netflix.

My husband and son flew to FL today to attend the MI bowl game on NYD, so my daughter (14) and I will be having a “girls weekend” - early dinner out then watch the NYC ball drop at 10pm our time and go to bed:)

Working for my moonlighting job New Years Eve and day. Double time will help pay the medical bills that will be coming in January.

A friend invited us over for a potluck games night. I’m looking forward to it!

New Years Eve day- my H will meet friends for either tennis or volleyball. I’m going to go first to a Pilates class on the foam roller followed by a Nia dance class. These classes are special for the day as usually my gym only offers Yoga or stretching classes on Sunday. H and I will probably take a walk. Dinner will be tacos in a hard shell. I only fry taco shells a few times a year. I have ripe avocados and H will fry up fresh corn tortilla chips. This is a meal H and I have made together since our early dating years. We will probably be asleep before the ball drops here on the west coast.

New Year’s Day we will spend with my MIL and FIL. We will either walk with them in our local marina or if the weather is nice take their boat up the coast a short distance and anchor and have lunch. The other option will be to go to their home about 45 minutes away if they aren’t down in our area. My Mil lost her sister this fall and she is having a hard time. We are all making an effort to spend more time with her. Time permitting I would like to go to a couple of special classes my gym is having on New Years Day before we see the Inlaws.

^^ May I PLEASE walk on the marina with you? That sounds HEAVENLY right now.

We don’t do anything, only once in a blue moon. When the kids started driving and going out, DH definitely didn’t want to. But I’ll be making a nice family dinner. I think the last party I had for NYE was 12/31/1999, we even let all the kids stay up that year.

@abasket Sounds like a fun time at your house.

My plans really depend on the weather and it appears that New Year’s eve and day will be very cold. We woke up this morning to our first snow and it will likely freeze again tonight. D is hanging out with her friends this evening for mall shopping, dinner, and a movie. Tomorrow we may go for an early dinner (we’ll see) and come home and watch the movie “New Year’s Eve.” After that watch a bit of the Times Square ball drop and toast with some ginger ale. If we don’t go out for dinner we will go out for brunch instead the next day. When it is cold and dark I enjoy being warm and cozy at home and having good heartwarming food.

There are several New Year’s events going on around my home with dinner, drinks, dancing, and dj but I prefer a quieter evening.

New year means getting back to healthy eating and being more self-disciplined with myself.

Early evening movie with DH followed by glass of cava at home well before midnight. Invited to gathering at friends’ house but declined - don’t like to be out late with all the drunk drivers (plus our weather is expected to be bad).

We planned on having company at our house - our best buds. Our boiler sprang a leak, so I am not in the mood to cook without running water… Mr. B is determined to have the “party” hell or high water. I am thinking it will be more like frozen hell as we have no water (or heat) in the house. :)) The plan is to fire up the leaky boiler for a couple of hours and then - party time!!

It’ll be the first year since well before S1 was born that it’ll only be DH and I for NYE. Usually our kids (and DIL after the marriage) have spent it with us, having a taco bar, playing games, and watching the ball drop at midnight. S1 & DIL didn’t travel this year since their baby was too young, and S2 chose to spend it with his GF, so we’re on our own. I’m not sure DH and I will even make it to midnight.

We’ll watch the ball drop (DH has always considered EST the real midnight even after living in the Midwest for 40 years) then head over to a resort on Mission Bay for a late dinner and dancing to a band, with champagne at PST midnight. Only 10 minutes from home on a lightly traveled route.

DS will walk one block to Seattle Center to see the fireworks at the Space Needle. I am envious.
