Whatcha Doin New Years....New Years Eve....!

@CountingDown – fondue is a great NYE idea… pass the time till midnight by having the guests cook their own dinner. Genius! Will have to remember it for next year…

Here’s wishing all of you a marvelous 2018.

“Mr. B is still awake.” LOL @BunsenBurner. (I can relate.)

Happy New 2018 to all!

(It is officially confirmed - “live” TV coverage of the Space Needle fireworks is delayed by at least 3 seconds. No, we were not there. We watched them from the roof of our house!

And the boiler is still chugging along…)

Happy New Year to all. We did all according to plan and were home and asleep before midnight! (that was H’s plan).

I couldn’t stay up until midnight. I think that disappointed DH who didn’t want to stay up alone.

I fell asleep watching Dead Pool with DH, but as agreed, he woke me up at 11:45 and we saw the New Year in together.

My 14 year old wasn’t invited to the party a lot of her friends were going to. so she called around and ended up sleeping over the house of her cousin’s cousin— the girls all get together from time to time.

My 17 year old and 3 of her girlfriends went to one of the guy’s houses to hang out, but were so bored that they called me at 11 to pick them up. They tried to hit Wendy’s on the way back, but it was closed. (I’m on Long Island. I have NEVER seen Wendys and McDonalds closed before last night!) So they ended up back at my house, baking brownies.

My 19 year old son had to be at work this morning at 8 am, so he was home.

We all went out for Red Lobster at about 3 pm, so my husband and I just munched a bit last night… I had a 1 1/4 pound lobster to ring in the new year.

So, all in all, it was a good night. My kids weren’t out driving, and everyone was in for the night by 11pm. I’ll drive the 15 minutes to pick up my youngest later.

I made it to midnight but H did not so I watched ball drop with Andy & Anderson

We ordered take out from our fav Indian restaurant and pick upped some baklava and ice cream for dessert. Didn’t bother trying to find a movie as it was after 10 when we finished. I watched the tennis from Brizzy until 11:58 when I switched to CNN.

I was surprised Dunkin Donuts was closed.

Yeh, BB, boiler still working. But alas, decisions to make.

We also watched the ball drop with Andy and Anderson before going out. I thought Andy did a very nice job, excited and happy and interested. Anderson just looked cold.

I decided to hit the sack by 11. H was asleep in a chair on the sunporch and D2 and her friend were Face Timing their other roommate - I decided, “nah” to staying up to midnight and decided I’d rather get up earlier this morning and enjoy this last day before heading back to work.

Going to make a beef roast w/vegetables, roasted beets and maybe some homemade bread for an early dinner tonight that S and his wife will probably come over for.

Tree is still up. If it stays up past today it will be a record for me. Maybe take it down tomorrow after work.

I started shivering like crazy (not cold here) around 5:30 and was in bed by 7:30 with headache, chills, and fever. I woke up at 8:30 and still don’t feel well. :frowning: DH told me that he and DS flew DS’s drone (Christmas present) around to catch glimpses of fireworks around the valley last night. DS was supposed to make a late dinner for us but moved it to this afternoon. Unfortunately, the thought of food is not appealing. This sucks.

@ChoatieMom, I hope it’s not influenza!

Too cold here on Long Island for our usual early evening movie and then home for candlelight dinner… so settled in for the candlelight dinner and then watched some of the Twilight Zone marathon and the NY Philharmonic Live New Year’s Eve Leonard Bernstein concert, watched the ball drop and off to bed. Too cold to venture out today and DH just told me that car in the driveway has a dead battery and of course new car is cozy in the garage… time to call AAA

We went out to dinner and then a concert. First time out in memory!
However, I was super disappointed that the only nod to midnight was auld lang syne.
Then on with the music and they did not drop the balloons until 12:30.
So I felt that we missed seeing something really fun at midnight and we also have a wonderful
view from our deck at home and missed all of the fireworks.

Trader Joe’s has pretty good fondue, which we supplement with more gruyere cheese, kirchwasser and white wine. Did half bread, half apples and veggies. If you have more pots, you could do a meat/seafood fondue with broth or oil, and a chocolate pot.

Melting Pot was fully booked; this way we could enjoy at home in our pjs.

Anderson Cooper looked miserable.

“I was told there would be tea” is my new line…

@abasket - changed my profile picture to a picture from my walk today. It was cool for us 64 degrees but beautiful. Warm when we were in the sunshine. Having been born, raised and lived my entire life in Ca I don’t think I’d last a week in your Midwest weather.

Went to bed before midnight so could get up early. Ver 2000 people showed up,for yoga in the downtown amphitheater Fourth year the owner of a yoga studio has organized this event.

I bought tickets to a local “First Night” fair for the first time. We were all excited about doing that.

Then, single digit temperatures rolled in. Since we could hardly bear to be out during the day, we figured after sunset was out of the question.

We ended up staying in and watching Monty Python’s The Holy Grail and Four Weddings and a Funeral. We’ve seen those umpteen times before; they’re sort of comfort food for us.

I say “we” watched movies, but while they watched, I was proofreading essays for last-minute applicants on College Confidential.

My New Year’s resolution is to stay off this addictive site, and I’ve already broken it–several times!
