Whatcha Doin This Weekend? October 3-5

Sometimes you just need a basic, no controversy thread.

First weekend of October. Whatcha doin this weekend??

It’s going to still be summer temps here - 85-90 - crazy for Ohio!
Today is some house/yard tasks and Costco.

Tomorrow there is an autumn harvest vintage outdoor market down the road.

Because of the heat I’m planning a stop for fall ice cream one more time. They have an apple cider float I must try!

Some reading and lounging time in the :sun: with my kindle.

If I can get him motivated, a couple house tasks for H.

Need to catch up on podcasts so probably a nice evening walk each day.

You should have asked last weekend, when we were visiting the kids/FDILs! We visiting the site of S/FDIL1’s wedding next spring and ate in the place where the rehearsal dinner will be.

This weekend, not so fun. H is going to the big city - hopefully with a friend - to a toy/comic show. That will allow me to clean the house well, nap, and happily watch football in peace. If the friend doesn’t go, then I get to go and none of the above will happen…

Plan to meet up with girl friends at the beach and then brunch with one son and his GF Sunday. Plus house chores and some work work.

Enjoy the weekend all!

Meeting D1 for lunch today (baby girl is due in 11 days!) and some shopping. Going to the movies with H and D2 tomorrow to see One Battle After Another. Going to see my Mom on Sunday and take her to lunch. Will stop by my Dad’s grave on the way home to put some flowers on it.

A busy weekend for me. I think lunch today at a brewery with good smash burgers. Birthday get together tonight with local family. A wedding of longtime friends tomorrow. Sunday is a drive to look at a boat we aren’t buying. My husband wants to see it for the future lol. Maybe we will stop and see my brother who I haven’t seen in a long time.

After spending the previous two days staining 30 12’ pine boards, I will be spending hours this weekend (im)patiently holding a broom handle up against each in support while DH dovetails them into a ceiling for the new bedroom on the lower level of the cabin. We leave to return to AZ on the 23rd, and the weather is forecasted to be warm and glorious this weekend, so we’re planning to knock off work early each day to enjoy some of our dwindling time by the lake and have dinner at a couple of our favorite waterfront restaurants. Unfortunately, all of the creameries around the lake closed after Labor Day, so no more ice cream for me. May have to order a Mudslide for dessert, though…

Aww I’m not ready for you to head west yet! Seems like you just settled in east. The cabin always sounds so cozy and in nature that must be hard to leave (winter tho…)

Me neither, but it must be done (for DH’s sake). I’m enjoying every last fall minute.

I like this thread!

Our city ( and its ā€œtwinā€ ) is hosting a big marathon this weekend. SIL’s brother is running it so he along with their parents are arriving today. SIL and his parents are running the 5k tomorrow morning and I hear GD might be running the ā€œ toddler trotā€. We will watch SIL’s brother run on Sunday from a spot near the lake about a mile or so from my house.

In addition, H’s sisters are driving up here and should arrive tomorrow afternoon ( they will stay with me). They are coming to see us and meet the new GS. This was the only weekend that worked for them and it’s a quick trip. I look forward to seeing them.

Trying to pack 2 small bags for a 3 week fall trip in Europe - fun and not fun! Second guessing myself all over the place on what I just rolled and stuck in a packing cube…thinking I may be able to get more in the suitcases if I do not use cubes but cubes are so much easier if I have to swap boats in middle of trip. Will finish it up this weekend and do not plan to cook after Sunday night - leave for the airport on Wednesday. Kido’s staying most nights at my house with the cats so no need for boarding or stopping mail. Getting excited but a little concerned about security lines but our ride will pick us up quite early so should be okay.

We are in Europe this weekend, but @threeofthree, my packing never seems to involve small bags. My bag did weigh 5 lbs less than husband’s this trip, so yay me. We did a 5 mile hike up a mountain today. Tomorrow it may rain, so we’re not sure what we will do. It would be awesome if weather changed and we made it up Mt. Blanc, but it’s not looking promising. We start the cycling part of our trip Sunday.

I’m flying with DS1 to London tomorrow. He starts work Monday and I will test out any and all pubs in whatever area he is considering an apartment. Having a beer in Grand Central terminal right now. The weather in NYC has been great for 10 to 15 miles of walking each day.

I hope the weather clears for you. Wish I was in shape enough to hike and cycle - I’m just worried about climbing up castle stairs! I’m guessing you are not flying Lufthansa either direction. This return trip on Lufthansa and bag sizes has me flumoxed!

I just check Amsterdam weather - that’s where we start and it shows mostly rain and cloudy until we get there and then like sunny and sixties for our duration - but we will be heading south from there so who knows….and of course, that is still 6 days away so it all may change!!!

We’re celebrating a big birthday with our D. She’s an amazing daughter and we feel very blessed to be her parents. We celebrated with a special family dinner last night.
On Saturday evening, her H is hosting a big gathering for family and friends. It’s going to be fun!
