Whatcha Doin This Weekend? October 3-5

Saturday, I am helping run an AKC fast cat event. (Think of dogs sprinting after a plastic bag on a rope). Dinner with the neighbors on our back deck. Sunday, the town next to us is having a big autumn festival and the parade is on Sunday and it is an amazing parade for a small town. All sorts of bands from Chicago and the Jesse White tumblers! Pretty big stuff for out in the sticks.

Retired so weekends cease to have meaning! Went to an apple orchard today to avoid the weekend crowds. Also bought yummy apple cider donuts and ate at a BBQ restaurant with outdoor seating. Weather was perfect. Tomorrow will be chores all day and Sunday meeting son and his gf (who work so weekends have meaning for them) halfway between (1 hr 15 min for each) for our October birthday lunch (him and me).

I’m semi retired but I think ill always still appreciate and recognize weekends- that’s when other people in my life will be free and more events are scheduled and to be honest I like some structure during the week so I hope I ALWAYS appreciate weekends!

Getting out some fall clothes and putting away bathing suits and shorts.

Visit the farmers market and possibly a vintage market on Sunday. We spent the last two weekends helping D pack up her apartment and move so I’m going to enjoy having a bit of time to relax and enjoy the nice weather.

And oh yes, watch some baseball!! :baseball:

I’m skipping town - full of tourists this weekend the annual PowerBoat show with hordes of boaters from around the world as well as with the Navy/AirForce game. Double whammy here! Dh has his 35th college reunion (Navy) this weekend so he’s headed to the game but I’m flying to Chicago tomorrow to visit D20. She has fall break and her roommate is going home for the break so I decided to go visit. I haven’t seen her new off campus apartment since dh went with her to move her in August. Of course, it’s beautiful, perfect fall weather here but going to be in the 80s in Chicago. Hotter than I prefer for this time of year, but looking forward to the visit, although it will be a quick trip.

GO NAVY! :american_football:

Yes, until December 13, that is. Then, GO ARMY! :military_helmet:

DS/DIL may be at that game, though. He’s currently serving at Ft. Meade and actually has Navy friends. :ship:

Hm… I think our return trip may actually be on Lufthansa. Should I be worried? We may be ticketed through United but flying Lufthansa, if that makes sense? I guess we will find out.

Behind the scenes tour of the local rail company, concert of a folk rock group we liked back in the day at a local winery, laundry. Given the nice weather, we’ll probably have our last ritual ā€œdrinks on the patioā€ of the season this weekend.

Going to a friend’s house. A bunch of our group will be there and spend the night. It is a perfect, glorious day in Maine. I went to the grocery store earlier, and it cracked me up. About half the people were dressed for October and the other half were dressed for the weather (predicted high of 81 today).

I’m in Germany this weekend. Munich yesterday, and a university town til Monday. We walked through the old town and wandered the stalls at the market. Many photos taken. Dinner tonight at the hotel restaurant. We passed a cafe with what looks to be delicious cake, so we’ll head back tomorrow for afternoon cake and coffee.

I love Austria and Germany and their afternoon cake tradition!

I look at it as having seven weekend days/week, 2 of them happen to be on Saturday and Sunday!

I love this thread. We’re going to the birthday bash of a former acquaintance/new friend tonight (there was a hiatus of nineteen years between old acquaintanceship and new friendship). There will be bands! Then, tomorrow, we’ll attend the celebration service for a friend of a friend’s life, and wrap things up later with dinner with the in-laws. I’m grateful to be not working very much this weekend!

I saw a local production of Rent last night, which was excellent. Midtown was jumping because of Octoberfest and a Chappell Roan concert.

Yes I’m supposed to be Delt both ways but not a Delta flight either way, just Delta partner. I’m reading the GE Facebook page where several (not just one poster) said they had to check their carry on and/or pay for cargo on the larger bags. Carry on dimension must be less than 21.6 x 15.7 x 9 inches tip to tip (that includes retracted handle and wheels) but you can always check the carry on, hopefully for no charge. Checked bags have to be no larger than 62ā€ adding the WxHxD. So, I have no idea, other than what I’m reading and when I did Google searches, it seems they are quite strict and the recommendation is don’t exceed their requirements. Now their personal item size is ridiculous - it’s 15x11x4 - you can fit waaaaaaay bigger bags under the seat in front of you than that - and 4 inches high, really!!! But, I did read somewhere that they are not as strict on the personal item.

Right now, sitting on the deck with a glass of Riesling. Little kid and the littlest grandchild just went home after visiting. It was an awesome visit! Little Miss Mess ate her lunch without making a mess, she was gentle with the cats, and was just an absolute bundle of sunshine! :sun_with_face:

We’re working at the family cottage. It’s in the upper 80’s, which is unseasonably warm, to say the least. Unfortunately, we brought in the boat and dock last weekend. After mowing the lawn (in October!) and blowing leaves, H has been busy polishing the boat (it’s very old, and polishing does help it look ā€œnewerā€). I put up new blinds, cleaned the oven & put away everything that needs to be put away for the winter. We did take time out to walk yesterday, enjoying the incredible day.
