Whatcha Doin This Weekend??!

US MNT soccer game last night.

I played pick-up for an hour this AM (it was 4 v4 so it was a ton of running).

I’m getting my haircut this afternoon and then we have concert tickets Monday evening

Dh got home Thursday from a two week business trip. In a rare phone call from S19 Thursday morning, he mentioned he was “off” this weekend from sports. He doesn’t have class on Fridays so had a three day weekend. His fall break is next week but he has a game so has to stay at school. I offered him a train ticket home but he was on the fence. He texted me a couple hours later after learning a couple of his buddies are home for their fall break, so he took the train home yesterday. Made his meal of choice for dinner last night and then enjoyed watching the Nats win game 1!

S21 and D23 have service hour requirements to satisfy, so we left S19 home sleeping in this morning and went to feed the homeless. Home now watching college football and then helping D23get ready for her homecoming dance tonight. S19 is going out with his friends.

No specific plans tomorrow other than taking S19 to get the train back to school.

Heading out now to brunch for D1’s birthday. There is an art and wine festival in our coastal town that we will visit after brunch and a walk on the beach. Taking the paddle boards out tomorrow since D1 now lives a block from the bay. Beautiful weather here this weekend!

Did some research for a couple of upcoming trips, and purchased the travel insurance. Took advantage of my ‘senior boating pass’ and went kayaking at the DC Wharf. Going to meet a friend to watch the Nats/Cards game.
Tomorrow scheduled a video phone chat with west coast DD1/SIL/GS; will lunch with DD2 who tells me DS might join us. All my kids in one day - heaven!

Caught husband’s cold, slept until almost noon. Bought my mother’s groceries, stopped by pharmacy to open an account for her, went to her place for visit and some minor post-op assistance.

We’re keeping the rest of the day quiet. Hanging out at home, played ball in yard with dogs. I have bills and paperwork to put off this evening since I just discovered the joys of open library online.

It’s a quiet weekend here - filling in the (surprisingly large) holes the woodpecker has put into the house, making a lasagna, helping D3 arrange an audition trip, catching up on some work, resting and recharging.

This was a long weekend for me - took Thursday and Friday off and went with my D2 who was on grad school fall break to visit friends outside of Chicago. Spend Friday in downtown Chicago shopping and eating and the rest of the time just hanging out with them. Also got to spend a nice couple days with their “newer” pup. Back home now and will make D2 a nice brunch in the morning before she heads back to school and her apt. Hoping the weather is good enough for some outside work tomorrow afternoon!

Coming up the east coast from Charleston, SC right now. Long drive for 2 full days there, but the weather was nice, and we don’t get together with family very often. We will have one day HOME tomorrow, to catch up on chores.

H & I are at his parents’ house, supposedly helping them get ready to move to assisted living. They move in 3 weeks, but they are not ready to get rid of things. We can’t even get MIL to let us pitch the encyclopedia set her dad gave her for her college graduation (she is 92). We have several trips ahead of us, for sure. Just wish we were closer (15+ hours away).

Son came home this weekend and goes back Tuesday.

Going to see The Joker on one of the few places to see it on 70mm film in the United States.

Music Box in Chicago

Saw Third Coast Percussion yesterday on UChicago campus.

about to see Rachel Maddow. Caught the tail end of the Pride parade.

Washed / hung / folded laundry.

Got in a nice trail walk with our dogs. Had a little campfire in the yard while they chewed on sticks and barked at coyotes.

Spent down our eMusic balance with an eye towards closing the account. So much jazz.

Tomorrow I’m taking my car in for inspection, oil change, etc., buying groceries, going to visit my mother.

No long weekend here, but went overnight to a friend’s beach house which was wonderful. Weather was great for mid-October!

It’s theoretically a long weekend here, so weekend isn’t over right? Saturday my cookbook club met - the theme was black or orange food and we had four different kinds of carrot soup among other things- mine had tequila and lime, another one had coconut. It’s actually very rare that people bring in even close to the same thing. The best dish was the pumpkin stout ice cream (made with homemade pumpkin stout) made by a guy who works as a janitor at the library who also loves to cook so he often is able to arrange his schedule to be with us. In the afternoon we took a walk in what I think is the loveliest park in the area. Sunday was gym day and also I finally got the last two scrolls from Hong Kong hung in my studio. One is calligraphy done by my son’s girlfriend’s father - so it’s extra special. We also finally got rid of the broken futon and broken fussball table in the basement and replaced it with a real bed. Our basement is still only semi finished, but at least it’s no longer full of broken things. Today, I’m cleaning up my office space, doing a little Chinese Ink painting and picking up stuff from a native plant sale that is a benefit for our “Healthy Yards” chapter.

My hopefully quick car inspection etc. went south, so I’m at home for a couple-few hours while they finish up. Husband is out for a local ramble and I’m having some relaxed house time with the dogs. Big target for today is needlework, specifically progress in an online course.

Beautiful day up in New England but warmer than I’d like for this time of year. Waiting for my crisp fall days.

Happy Friday! Got head start on our weekend since husband had today off. We took a nice couple-hour trail walk with the dogs. Cooler and brisker than last time, so I whined less. Our area of New England got hit by the storm this week, so our progress was slowed by clearing branches off to the side (we walk on a non-maintained road and were seemingly the first ones on it since the storm). Good thing we don’t have retrievers, they would’ve brought back every stick we tossed!

Made some needlework progress this evening. Measuring my creativity in tiny parts of a pomegranate.

High school football game last night with DD’19 and now she has already left to go back to school. Laundry etc. today and DH is building a new doghouse. This evening DD’17 will arrive and maybe tomorrow we’ll go to MIL’s for her birthday. It rained last night so DH has the weekend off from hauling in grain from the fields.

It’s a beautiful fall weekend in Ohio, temps in the 60’s. Drove the 45 mins to my moms and took her to the grocery store, cut her grass and did some other yard maintenance and had lunch with her.

I have another outdoor painting project that I’ll probably do tomorrow since it will take a few hours. Today I am going to put the finishing coat of polyurethane on a piece of furniture I rescued this summer from a neighborhood trash pile.

I’m starting to “rewatch” The Office. I actually never watched all the shows/seasons and definitely didn’t watch it when it was actually on. I just watched spotty episodes the last few years. “Pam and Angela” started a new podcast “The Office Ladies” this week and they are reviewing the show episode by episode sharing fun facts and behind the scenes stories of the particular episodes. First episode was fun! So last night I watched the Pilot and then Season one, first episode - which happened to be the Diversity Day episode. I was literally LOL’ing!

We are bagging black walnuts from our tree to take to a state park, where they plan to plant them to help with the Chesapeake Bay. Seems a little odd to me, but am glad to get them out of my yard – maybe some grass will grow now.

DH is working tomorrow; quilting for me (for the women’s shelter and the newest great nephew). Need to finish making a Renn Fair/comic con cape for S1. Starting to download phone pics from vacation so I can post-process and make a photobook. Both guys linked me to their pics from the trip as well, so I will have thousands to cull. DH just wants a flash drive with the top 100 (ha! He’s getting 6-700!) that he can plug into his digital frame. He can’t run them on his work computer, and this saves me from changing out pictures in frames constantly.

Delivered a quilt for a special young lady last weekend and she loves it.

We are almost finished with watching the final season of The Wire.

Yard work in the rain, watched DH’s alma mater lose, and tomorrow will watch our home football team lose. But soccer team won,
So all is not lost.
