Whatcha Doin This Weekend??!

Walking a Couple hours a day around Chicago. A small dinner Friday night, rehearsal today, so lots of time to wander the city. Thanks to many of your suggestions my goody bags went over well. Tonight is rehearsal dinner at a pizza place, with 99 people from out of town.

Uh oh. I thought my message didn’t go thru so rewrote. So now in weddings and here. Feel free to skip one entry.

Husband came down with a cold. I’ve got a very light version of it, so I spoke with my mother on the phone and we decided not to have me visit her at rehab hospital today. I went over to her apartment and finished getting it ready for tomorrow’s home evaluation in anticipation of Tuesday’s release. Put in a hand-held shower, bought and assembled a tub seat, took over a couple of walkers we have so mom and OT can choose and adjust best option.

And for a sick guy, husband did a lot. He went down to the basement for a quick thing and ended up clearing a large shelf or two in a large metal storage unit and hauled it all out to the trash or my car for donation.

Also got some needlework done! Though it was terrifying, because I’m taking an online video course and only just ever tried the trellis stitch this evening. I am now the stitcher of part of a pomegranate.

Truckload of bark has been spread. Gorgeous weekend! But I am a bit behind on work… the next two days will be rainy… plenty of time to catch up.

This weekend was pretty relaxing, but the next one will be quite busy. I’m planning some home and lawn renovation. It’s autumn already and it’s pretty late for this, but I didn’t have time until now. Currently reading reviews and planning to try a leaf blower [like this](https://electrogardentools.com/p/echo-backpack-blower-gas-510-cfm-215-mph-review/), only after that I will start improving my garden. I also hope to clean up my garage before winter.

We started riding the Great Allegheny Passage on Sunday, and finished today. It was a great trip, despite one RAINY miserable day. In 5 years we may remember the rainy day the most, but today was a glorious day, and we had 25ish miles of a slight downhill ride, so it was pretty memorable too. Now we head off 9 hours in the other direction tomorrow. This is a busy week for us.

@SuperSonya happy garage cleaning, hope to see you on the bag-a-week thread!

@1214mom happy riding, rainy miserable days make the best stories – well after the fact!

Long holiday weekend coming up here, complete with leaf-peepers. We like to avoid traffic and have plenty of things going on at home.

Husband has been too miserable with a cold to focus on some pending work and is working out his frustration by decluttering. I’m about to take a couple of small chairs to Goodwill.

There’s a nearby low-to-no-traffic trail where we’ll take the dogs for a ramble.

We won’t be doing much this weekend. Probably cleaning the house and watching baseball and football.

H is a pastor and has this Sunday off church due to his schedule being changed. He still had office hours this week. I am not sure what (if anything) we will do with that time.

Looking at three days’ worth of all kinds of highs and lows here. On the plus side, H and I should get in a couple of good, long birdwalks, and the weather is supposed to be lovely. On the intense side, S2 is testing for the culmination of, oh, about nine years of dedicated work on an outside EC. (Fingers crossed, please!) So Sunday morning H and I will attend what we all hope will be the graduation/celebration of that. And on the negative side, Sunday evening H flies away for a week. Monday should at least be quiet, as S2 and I don’t have work/school - then again, he might want to go to a local-ish college’s open house.
I think I’m looking forward to the weekend?

I am pouting on this Friday afternoon because one week ago we were in Santa Barbara.

Since we are now poor, we will be staying home and painting the upstairs hallway and entry. Probably go shopping for lamps for our new bedroom. (Getting remodeled due to electrical fire 2 months ago).

I am home which is a good thing. H and I were out of town 4 of the last 5 weekends. It was all fun stuff, but it’s tiring especially when you work full time.
H is still gone (he went to visit his mom after our last trip) and will be home tomorrow evening. Tomorrow I plan to meet up with my running buddies (I’m dealing with an ankle injury so I’ll be walking), then running a few errands and getting a few things done before I pick H up at the airport. It was nice having some time alone, but I look forward to having him back.

Tomorrow we are going to the funeral of H’s last remaining uncle. H is now the patriarch of his family. Oy. I am the matriarch of mine! After that, we are going to a friend’s 60th birthday luncheon. On Sunday, H is taking a training course to work as an election inspector and I am going to catch up on some work. Kind of boring, but that’s me.

We have a party tomorrow night which should be fun even though I’m not really good at parties. I’m fine once I get there but am nervous about going. Anyone else?

Sunday we are going to a meeting for my husband’s hobby. He’s excited, I go so we are together.

Next weekend we are going to visit our kids. I’m very excited about that. Will be meeting D’s boyfriend for the first time. I am nervous about that.

Hey @conmama we are painting our very dated entry hall and stairway this weekend!

Stripped the dated wallpaper from under the chair rail last night, which turned out to be easy because I had (surprisingly) taken the time to size the walls before I papered them about 15 years ago. I washed the walls and trim and painted a first coat on most of the trim this afternoon.

Tomorrow will be Kilz on the glazed walls above the chair rail (did I mention how very dated this area is?), another coat on the trim, and then a soft gray flat paint above and below the crisp white chair rail.

I have to “paint” the floor tile grout as well, but that will likely wait until next weekend as I have a baby shower to attend on Sunday and H will be watching football all day (I do have off on Monday for Columbus Day, so I could tackle it then — but I have a Liane Moriarty book waiting on my Kindle, so the grout may well lose that battle).

@LuckyCharms913 , so it’s flat on the walls in hallway and entry? Didn’t know if it should be flat or eggshell.

Ooh, I remember that thread! I like eggshell or even satin on walls but went with flat this time because so many people on CC recommended it. It will have to be an improvement over how bad it looked.

@techmom99 condolences on your family’s loss.

@deb922 I think parties hit me the same way. I love people but sometimes get a little twisted up ahead of an event.

@HarrietMWelsch good luck to your son!

At Shenandoah National Park this weekend. Watching Nats-Cards right now. DH has Monday off, but will be heading into work. We’ll go out to breakfast first – a tradition started when DH and I were off work for the holiday, but the guys had school.

@LuckyCharms913

We have some discolored grout that used to be brown and is now a light grey. Please tell me about painting the floor grout!!

@thumper1 I am using a product called Grout Renew (got it at Home Depot and it comes in maybe 10 shades). Hoping it works as well for me as it did for my BIL; I was stunned by his results. The directions say to use a toothbrush to apply, but he painted his on with a skinny brush so he could be more precise. I’ll let you know how it goes.
