It’s an arts weekend for us. Opera tonight, Beethoven’s 9th tomorrow, opera Sunday. Winterizing the yard and errands in between.
At a medical conference. In the same building is https://www.mecum.com/
Need to get the kids out of college. Think I know where some of that money “saved” money is going to… ??.. Lol.
We will be going into LA to walk in an Alpha 1 walk tomorrow midday. He will then need to get home to finalize things for Sunday morning, so we won’t stay around long afterwards.
Meeting a friend to watch the Nats in Game 3 tonight; tomorrow laundry/packing and watching Game 4; Sunday I’m heading to Savannah with a friend for a film festival.
Nats, Nats, Nats! Will be watching from home, as none of my friends do sports things. Will WhatsApp with S2 – he is watching the games seven time zones away. The games end around 6:30 am his time. Also doing some quilt piecing and was asked to give a presentation on my Judaic fabric art and the women’s shelter quilt project to our Sisterhood at synagogue on Sunday afternoon. If it’s not rainy tomorrow afternoon, we may go for a hike with the dog. DH will be at work Sunday, as he will be out of town Monday and Tuesday. Monday I drive to Philadelphia to get veiling for my niece’s headpiece; the wedding is four weeks from tomorrow.
My sister who lives on the opposite coast had a business conference a couple hours from me so tomorrow I get to spend several hours with her before she flies out of my local airport. Sunday I’m playing Bunco with a new group. Otherwise, a quiet weekend.
Happy weekend everyone!
This is the 2nd-to-last weekend of the soccer season. I have the most inconvenient schedule of games that I’ve had the season–the gaps between games are too long to just go from field to field and too short to do anything productive
Catfish, tilapia and perch.
Fingers crossed that the rain holds off.
Voted this morning. Love voting early with no line!
Car shopping
Do I need to say more? .
@bookworm one of my least favorite things to do although owning a new car at the end of those negotiations is always nice! Did you end up making a purchase?
My weekend involves a whole lotta sports watching. Last night watched my Nats sadly lose.
This morning we drive into the city to feed the homeless for my high schoolers’ service hours. This is the fourth weekend in a row we’ve done this with this particular organization and it has really impacted our kids, as well as Dh and me. It’s mostly the same people coming back week after week, and many have shared their personal stories with us.
S19 had an away game that started shortly after we got home. It was being being live-streamed so we watched that, and fortunately they pulled out a win. S19 had a great game Including one that set them up to score so that was exciting. I remained in the couch as we are now watching dh’s alma mater’s football game on tv. They had a great lead but quickly losing it. ?
Once this is over, Dh is making risotto and then we will watch the Nats game. More sitting. Think I need to take the dogs for a long walk as I didn’t get any exercise today.
Tomorrow my high schoolers both have to work at their respective schools’ Open Houses. It’s supposed to rain all day so I’ll probably make a couple of soups to have for lunch during the week. And use the rain as an excuse to lay on the couch and finish my book.
4kids4 us, thx
My lease is almost up on my Lexus sports model. The Lexus UX 2019 is a X-over, least expensive in the line up. However, a lease is $440. [>with all my discounts ). So, I tried Subaru and Honda today. So much pressure to buy before end of month. Both dealerships offer to pick up lease for the 2 months, but I know they just add that charge to total price. This thread is
So, thT is my situation off track, but each salesman spoke of a down payment for lease, and how that would bring down monthly payments. No, I said, cuz $ exactly the same but dealership gets paid up front. Just how stupid do they think we are in math?
So, that’s my weekend task.
Fish fry was a big success! Food turned out great (H was the chef) , guests loved everything and we all had a great time. Good thing the food was good as we have tons of leftovers!
Slept in today - I was exhausted last night. I woke up to pouring rain and feeling bad for the Marine Corps Marathon Runners (race is about 25 miles or so from here). Will mostly stay in and relax.
@FallGirl that rain was awful this morning. I felt so bad for the marathon runners. We had to drive to Baltimore this morning. On our return home, we saw four separate accidents on a 15 mile stretch of highway, including a FedEx truck facing the wrong direction on the left shoulder. We also had a lot of thunder. I’m sure you were relieved to have good weather last night for your fish fry!
I’m glad the rain has cleared out and the Nats game won’t be affected. Just hoping they get a win today!
The highlights of my weekend
Friday:
Celebrated my wife’s birthday, just the two of us…
Saturday:
Watched Princeton vs. Harvard football game. Close game but Princeton’s now half way through to a back-to-back bonfire.
Sunday, as I type this:
Watching to see if Tiger can hang onto the lead for a historic win in Japan.
I’m headed to Baltimore tonight for dinner with a friend that I met through CC
Yesterday - gathered food for the week ahead, stopped at a winery for a tasting, then went for a nice walk on the trail. Today - raked leaves! Gorgeous day and surprisingly warm. Warm enough to sit on the deck and enjoy lunch while absorbing some sunshine. ???
Had a nice weekend. Saturday am new client, in a house I worked on before. Saturday after noon went to the sculpture garden at Storm King. Beautiful day, beautiful colors. Hadn’t been there in more than ten years. It’s a long drive, but really is worth it. Fall is a good time to go, since the gardens are mostly grass and trees. (Lots of milkweed pods.) Had dinner at a restaurant that had just received a Bib Gourmand from the Michelin Guide. We had to eat outside, which was a little chilly, but actually nicer than the way too loud inside. Food was great. Today gym in the morning and lazing around and laundry in the afternoon, meant to get to the piles on the dining room table, but didn’t. Oh well…
Last night we had dinner with friends which almost never happens! Then a little shopping at the farm store and Walmart… since it rained he enjoyed a little evening out after working non-stop lately.
Today DH is finishing up the new doghouse and may have to go haul in harvest later if the fields dry up. I’ll be playing organ for church tonight and tomorrow morning.
DD’17 is visiting DD’19 at school. She and her boyfriend brought DD’19’s church camp friend too so that will be fun for them.
Last night we went out to dinner with friends. We decided we need to do this all winter, so I’ll try and make it happen.
Today has been lazy. I met up with a friend and went on an extra long walk. I’m firing up the grill one last time before the time change tomorrow so steaks tonight.
Tomorrow will probably be the same. We haven’t had a lazy weekend in a while.
