Whatcha Doin This Weekend??!

Clean up at the local park. Mostly pulled up or hacked down knotweed. Lunch was the library cookbook club - theme was surprise ingredients. We had a delicious cake made with parsnips! Then on to an art show with work by a friend. Range of stuff from amateur to really good. Tomorrow another day at the gym and I hope to make some time for some Chinese ink painting.

I want to go to a surprise ingredient lunch!

Got up early and walked the dog and run-walk’d me. Then drove to Ann Arbor for some “treat yo self” time for me. Was looking for a lightweight packable knee length black “down” type coat. Went to Sierra Trading Post and had LOTS of options! I choose the most expensive one I tried (a mere $99, originally $220) - it’s really exactly what I pictured getting so didn’t have to compromise! That store is MY store. Their stock/style is very much how I dress. Also picked up a cute Prana skirt I’ll get lots of wear out of.

Stopped at a couple other places doing Bday gift shopping for D1 and then a fun stop at Trader Joes - which we don’t have at home. Picked up the stuffed turkey roll with gravy and cranberry sauce and wrapped in puff pastry that @deb922 mentioned on another thread!)

Going to D1’s tonight to help put up some shelves in her new place. Then her and her bf are making us dinner. I made apple pie to take for dessert along with a couple bottles of wine.

I was granted the privilege of working from home yesterday, which was our anniversary. H worked all day (5 AM - 9 PM) as an early election inspector, so we brought in Chinese food for dinner. We were both too tired to even have a glass of wine, might try again tonight. Today, he worked again at the election and I caught up on bills and other work. Tomorrow, we are going out to dinner to celebrate D’s birthday and recent engagement. Just a quiet weekend.

Happy Anniversary to your and your husband, @techmom99.

Just got back from two separate hiking trips near one another. The first one, I was hoping not to run into a mountain lion; the second, I was hoping to run into some Bighorn Sheep. Neither happened.

We had a rough start to our weekend.

Thursday night we had a terrible storm with possible microburst that left a 3 block wide path of damage. Unfortunately we were inside the path. Huge tree limbs destroyed both of our HVAC units, several sections of our fence, pieces of trim/flashing from the house, our basketball hoop and lacrosse net. A tree is partially resting on our next door neighbor’s roof, and leaning on two other trees, which if not for them, would have landed on my son’s room. So yesterday Dh stayed home so we could deal with the HVAC guy, restoration company USAA sent and the tree company. They have to bring a crane in to remove the trees and until then, we cannot replace the HVAC (and of course, yesterday was the first time we actually needed heat!). On the bright side, after seeing all the damage around us, we are so fortunate that no one in the path was hurt!

We got up early this morning to drive up to S19’s college to see his game. They won, so that was nice! We took him out to dinner and now exhausted after multiple late nights due to the World Series, the storm, etc, I’ve been happily lounging in my hotel bed since 7:30 and looking forward to that extra hour of sleep!

Tomorrow we will take S19 out for a late breakfast, then I’m dropping Dh off at a local airport for a week long business trip then I’ll make the 5 hr drive home with my kids. Need to download an audiobook for the drive as I’m just about finished with my current one. Hoping my house isn’t freezing when we get home! This week should be fun as the have to replace both the inside and outside parts of the HVAC system. One is on the basement, so no disruption but the other is in a storage space inside my bedroom closet so I have to move a bunch of clothing out. Not looking forward to that but on the bright side, we will have a much needed upgrade to our current units!

Away with a group of girlfriends in Monterey. The weather has been amazing. I’m feeling very lucky.

I coached 3 games , had breakfast with one team and ice cream with the other

Went to Costco, stopped at a winery, then had dinner with friends. Came home, poured some champagne and sat down to vote!! The envelopes are sealed and ready to go. ?

Went to the Nationals’ World Series Championship parade! Lots of fun. Ran into some friends on there Metro and hung out with them through the parade, which was really nice. The 27 yo D of one couple is as much of a sports fan as S2…

Tonight I’m hand sewing heading and sequins on the trim for my niece’s wedding headpiece that I’m making. Going more quickly than I thought, which is excellent!

Travel day today. Husband and I made our way back from DS2 and DIL’s 1,100 miles away. Long drive to airport, flight, not-so-long drive home with a stop for dinner.

Already unpacked. Started making to-do list for all my catching up: phone calls to return, furniture delivery to schedule, medical appointments to rearrange for my mother. Tomorrow I’m getting her groceries and ours, Monday morning I’m picking our dogs up from the kennel.

Husband is snaking the kitchen drain. That may be a good time for my errands . . .

@collage1 can I switch places with you? Monterey with friends sounds lovely! Enjoy.

Met with my running buddies yesterday morning. Temp in the 30’s which was wonderful running weather (yes , really). Last night was our monthly euchre group night, and H won 3rd place - but he wins every month - not me
Today is quiet. Had a nice night’s sleep, will work out then maybe go see the Downton Abbey movie (finally!) while H watches football.

Today I will be helping DH and some other members of his war veterans group put out flags at the graves of veterans. We do this every year the weekend before Memorial Day and the weekend before Veterans Day. Then hosting a bridge game this afternoon. Both are very rewarding for different reasons.

Birthday weekend for me.
Spent last week in Savannah at the film festival - my first, really enjoyed it. Came home Friday to a birthday dinner celebration with my local kids - wonderful restaurant and they paid
Saturday I traded in my regular Metro pass for a 1/2 fare senior version, then to the library to pick up a hold, then to my casual folk singing group.
Today my MIL will take us to brunch, this afternoon will catch up on phone calls and reorganize my second bedroom to accommodate the new Murphy Cabinet Bed coming on Tuesday.

Happy B-Day @mominva !

Spent the weekend visiting S and DIL for granddaughter’s birthday. It was also DH’s birthday, but his took a backseat to the little one’s. It’s amazing how much she’s changed in the 2 months since we last saw her. We can actually have a conversation with her now that she’s 2yo. It’s been a fun weekend.

Happy birthday to @mominva too.

Lining up my ducks for tomorrow and the coming week. About to build husband some lunches for work. Car is gassed up for long drive to the designer kennel where our dogs spent the last 1.5 weeks.

Came back from our out-of-state trip to a pile of voicemails including one that my bookcases are ready to deliver, so I’m off to ready the master. It’ll be nice to see the floors of our kids’ rooms again – where I was storing stacks of books – especially since they’re coming for Christmas. (“Just fluff up the Dorothy Sayers, Honey, you’ll be asleep in no time!”)

I cannot believe this - we are eating lunch on our deck!!! Isn’t it November?! Wanted to make reservations to catch the last day of Restaurant Week, but Mr. need to review a few more grants, so… we are dining in. Maybe on the deck!!! will fire up the fire ? table!
